March prompt Lucky
-
Here’s my March progress on lucky, I’d love some feedback please
thanks so much!

@angelinakizz I am loving it. I kinda feel like her hair could transform into the mermaids and maybe if she had a pearl necklace on it could transform into the bubbles… I know not helpful feedback and totally doesn’t relate to the story lol just what my mind sees, it’s abstract, not narrative(my vision that is).

@angelinakizz A see a magical coin found in magical waters? Beautiful color and design but reads more as magical then lucky to me and I'm afraid I don't have an idea to change that up
. Design wise the only suggestion I have is that I think you could lose the small mermaid in the upper right, her little body shape pops out at me and seems a little to contorted. I can tell you've put a lot of love and thought into this.

@angelinakizz Love this palette, and the ethereal quality of the mer-fairies. This is a lot to tackle. But I'm not sure of what story is being communicated. Did the woman find the coin and lose her glasses? Is her face surprised, or is she communicating with a fairy? Is she paying the fairies for some glasses? Second, I think the pose of the hand isn't quite working, or maybe that the coin is very large in relation to her fingers.

@Larue , @Valerie-Light and @Asyas_illos
Thankyou all for the input.It’s so hard to convey luck!
In my head the story is that she spotted a lucky penny in a pond, as she was reaching in her glasses fell off, and she’s unsure if she’s seeing correctly that she’s discovered that mermaids are real.I will definitely try adjusting the size of the penny. I used my own reference photo to get the angle of the hand reaching in, so I’m not sure how to change it so that it’s better read. And I do agree that the upper right mermaid can be removed.
I will keep tweaking and Try to figure out how to better convey lucky. Thank you so much for your thoughtful insights.

Does this feel like it’s leaning into a better direction ? Still trying to figure out how to tie the story together.
-
@angelinakizz it’s funny everybody is having trouble with story it seems like with this one! I’m trying to think, maybe it would help if we knew or could see what type of waterbody she’s in? I was thinking wishing well and the little mermaids make wishes come true, but then why would she be taking a coin instead leaving one… I hope you figure it out! It is a fantastic image either way.
-
@asyas_illos does this help or distract? I love that idea of indicating the body of water
-
@angelinakizz I love it I think it adds a lot!
-
I started another one…
What do you guys think of this?
-
@asyas_illos thankyou! I’ll clean it up. I totally agree with you that it adds to the where much better than before. I don’t know if they’ll read it as lucky, but I’m just gonna go with it and see what happens.
-
@AngelinaKizz this is cute go for it!
-
I did another one today too. It’s been one of those sit back and draw to my hearts content days. It’s lacking in the secondary story though and I’m not sure what. Maybe a sad squirrel?
-
@AngelinaKizz this is good too!
-
@AngelinaKizz maybe tug the heart strings a bit and have him give it to someone else?
-
Ohhhh…. That’s too good. I’ll give that a go!
-
@AngelinaKizz As much as I think you did a great job of the brick "well" texture I would expect to find the mermaid creatures in a more natural pond/lake situation and since wells are super deep this suggests that she just dropped the coin herself and is grabbing it before it gets out of reach. Does that make sense?
-
@Larue @AngelinaKizz what if you switched the items up. Instead of her holding the coin, have her reaching for the glasses that fell off, and the mermaids are taking the coin?…
