I just finished the first foundations class, wanted to share my end sketches. Also, what is your favorite place online to purchase art supplies? And, are copic markers the way to go or are there other brands that you love?

@Frogpunzel II think your end sketches look really great! Especially the car. When I did this class, my car didn't turn out so great. Haha! For your question about markers, I don't use copics. I use a brand called ohuhu, which I think are a lot better than the copics. There are a few differences, but overall they're mostly the same. And they are way cheaper!

Nice work on your class drawings! I like the shape you went with for the tree. Other than the obvious online options like Amazon and Blick, I like to look at my local college bookstore to see if they have a selection. My local bookstore has a huge selection and good pricing on most items. As far as alcohol markers go I prefer copics. They are more expensive for a reason but it also depends on what works for your art style. I don't use cooics as much as I used to since alcohol markers are not Lightfast so they fade over time. I have started using Pitt pens but I haven't found any marker that blends as well as the copic sketch brush. I also am leaving a link to the Jazza video where cuts open 3 different price range alcohol pens to see how different they are made and its hilarious 😂

@K-Flagg Thank you, and great idea to check out college bookstores! I've never heard of Blick, I'll have to look that up. Good video link too 😆

Hey, welcome to SVS. These finished pieces are awesome. I really like the car, and the brush pen style of the the tree is really neat. I buy most art supplies at an art store. Michael’s is the big one. I’ll use Amazon as a last minute option though. Copics are great. I use them for some of my more polished sketches. It really depends on what you intend to do. Copics are best for character design. Anyways, great job and good luck.

@Cole-Rts Thank you! I wish I had a big art supply store where I'm at... It is over an hour to get to one, maybe I'll have to stock up next time I drive by an area that has one!

The best copic set for beginners are the copic ciao markers. They are intended for beginners because of how easy they are to use. They have a rounded barrel, which makes it easier to hold for novice users. There are still a lot of colors to choose from but not as extensive as others like the Sketch copic marker line.

@Frogpunzel I like to order from Dick Blick. But you gotta spend enough for free shipping or the shipping will get you. I'm terrible at thinking ahead when it comes to art supplies so I'm keeping the post office in business, lol

@Enholm-Molly I have some Ciaos alongside my Copic Sketch markers. They basically give the same performance as the more expensive Sketch line, but unlike them they're not refillable. Some time ago I bought a huge box of Ohuhu markers at Amazon because they sounded like a killer deal, and price wise they are... but I rarely use it, the colors are too bright and gaudy for me. I lean more to the more subdued tone of the Copics.

Copics are superior if you have a large budget and desire the greatest quality and widest range of color options. If you only need one or two certain markers, they are also "the ones." Also, you will be able to save money over time thanks to their changeable nibs and refillable ink cartridges.
