Fairytale traveller WIP
-
So here are the sketches of my character for this month’s contest. Turns out she’s a pig called Lentl. She has a really good sense of smell which is the main reason the villagers chose her for this quest - they figured she would smell danger in plenty of time for her to run away (she’s also quite speedy on her feet).
Character design is pretty new to me (my yeti was one of the 'monkey-like' designs, which I stubbornly stuck with for last month’s contest, ho hum ) - I find keeping consistency across the poses, and especially figuring out the pose from the back, somewhat challenging!
If you have any comments or feedback, they are most welcome! Thanks in advance.

@ruth I think this is a great start! Lentl is looking so cute and her personality is too funny
I can't wait to see your progress with her!
-
Very sweet and brave!
-
Thanks @Jacy13 ! I'm having a lot of fun with her
-
she's a really lovely character, I like the extra props you've added for the various poses
-
@Larue Thanks! Much of her braveness in setting out on this quest comes from her positivity - she's pretty sure everything will turn out ok despite never having travelled much further than the edge of her village before.
-
@sarahlovellart Thank you! I wasn't sure whether props were something you should add to a character sheet. But then I thought it added a bit more to her character.
-
This is a lovely character. I really like her with the blanket wrapped around
-
@lizardillo Thank you! I was wondering if it's ok to not show her whole body in a sitting pose though? She's pretty much hidden by the blanket. Is that helpful on a character sheet?

I've started to add colour to Lentl. I took inspiration from Yas Imamura's great new class on Creating Custom Color Palettes and used an image of a dried flower arrangement as I wanted the colours to be quite subtle and muted. What do you think? Does anything stand out as not working well or need refining at this point? Still need to work on her close up

Super cool so far. Really nice palette!
-
Super cute. love the color palette too!
-
@ruth It's coming along nicely
I like the color palette, it's really nice on the eyes . I especially like the pattern on the blanket! The only part of the color scheme I'm not too sure about is how the backpack is pretty similar to the shirt or dress. It feels like they start to blend into each other a little bit.
-
@Jacy13 Yes, I see what you mean about the backpack. Hmmm I'll take a look at changing the colours to give it a bit more definition. Thanks for the feedback!
-
Thanks for your encouraging words @jdubz !
