@kylebeaudette funnily enough I've just this week been working on my first attempt at any sculpture with air dry clay to get some creative time away from a screen because I've loved his work for so long. I wish I'd seen your guide before it, I used wooden skewers and tin foil for the structure and I had wait for it to dry for 2 days. No where near your level but it was fun (and frustrating)
-
@carrieannebrown wooden skewers and tinfoil will work just fine to start with. As you keep going though, invest in some cloth covered floral wire. You'll love it!
Air dry clay can be great to work with, different than what I'm using, but has some properties that can make you a lifelong fan of it!Good luck! Let me know if I can help with anything

@kylebeaudette It's very rough, I'll use your advice about more layers for a smoother finish if I feel the urge again
-
@carrieannebrown wonderful!!

Another angle on him, out on his adventure. -
No matter what, you gotta strut -
I wont finish this in time for the contest at this rate, but that's ok! I love where this is going and can see an opportunity to make a picturebook in a unique way
-
@kylebeaudette Awww, I'm sorry you won't be finished in time but so excited to see how this progresses! I love this guy!!!
-
@Tiffany-Thomas I might finish, it's just unlikely.
-
@kylebeaudette Good luck! I hope you do

Slammed together what I could, just ran out of time this week with my job going bonkers. I really like the look of him, and moreso the discovery of how easy it can be to work with egg carton-style cardboard.
Heres some video of the set:
https://youtu.be/3yl-xA2__N0And, if anyone wants to see the video I used to learn how to do that, check this out! (It involves mod podge and egg cartons)

I like this set-making stuff, and posting this stuff on twitter has garnered some interest from a few of my art-heroes so I'm going to keep going with it
Took another piece of this cardboard box, making another little set. This time I dipped some kleenex into the mod podge and black paint mixture to try and make cave stalactites. Worked okay, but they were mushy last night so I was worried they would never harden. This morning, they're solid!
My plan was a big creature head coming out of the 'Hole', and a little Muppety dnd guy cowering in fear below. I'll see if that's how it ends up, but I'm always open to switching to a better idea.

@kylebeaudette Looks awesome!!!!! You're making me want to get back into sculpture, lol.
