Would this be a spot illustration?
-
So I am practicing with my practice character. Would this be a spot illustration or just pictures in a circle? LOL. Too much background? Bare with me ... I'm learning.
-
@frankiiij I'd say that's images in sequence. In the storyboard category!
-
@sigross thank you. so one would be a spot. i guess that makes sense.
-
@frankiiij I believe these qualify as vignettes since they are full background, but not fully to the edge of the paper. A spot would just have no bg or only an indication of bg
-
@frankiiij from what I gathered at the arena last night was it's a single image that encompasses the character and plot/device elements to highlight a moment in a story. So minimal background, and zoomed in to the situation the character is in. And Lee said no drawing to the edge.
-
@carlianne umm ... smart. thank you!
-
@sigross Thank you. I am just trying to minimize as many cautions as i can.
-
@frankiiij Spot illustrations are often in books with space for text like this one in the BFG. -
@frankiiij lovely work! Yes, they definitely could be spots but given their size I’d say they’re more of vignettes.
-
@frankiiij I'd agree with @Nyrryl-Cadiz and say they're more vignettes (though I went down a rabbit hole on the difference between spots and vignettes and the line's blurry, lol).
Pretty work, though

@Nyrryl-Cadiz @sigross @carlianne @Braden-Hallett
Thank you all for the help. I think want I am nervous with is the amount of work in the picture. For example. Should i add a subtle color background to create the spot effect?

@frankiiij I think it looks great how it is but you could do a design with the faint background to see how you like it?
