July art challenge: julike
-
Hi everyone!
I just launched a new art challenge for the month of July: www.julikechallenge.com
This time the prompts are based on what you like. That way you get to know other artists better and they get to know you better, all through art. Sometimes it will just be a word, other times it will be a more specific challenge.
Feel free to share and participate!

Cooool I love a good monthly art challenge so hopefully I'll have time to do some this month (I'm useless at them though) as it's a great idea
Is there a separate instagram for it? -
@hannahmccaffery Not yet but I've been thinking about it. It's the first time I do this and I only had the idea a few days ago, so it was a bit of a stretch to make the website and the mailing campaign. I would recommend filling in the form, that way you get your prompt mailed to you daily Thanks!
-
Is the idea to post art here too? Or just Instagram/other sites?
-
This post is deleted! -
@CLCanadyArts It does sound fun! I signed up yesterday, hehe. But then again Iām also doing another challenge, and worry about how committed I can stay to both at the same time. XD
-
@Kuarahy Sure, why not. It will be fun to see what other people's prompts are and what they make
-
Signed up too! Will definitely try and do a couple
-
Also signed up, but don't have much time to spare

Day 1. An animal you like.
I spent about an hour total. Did a few loose sketches, then decided on this girl relaxing with her morning coffee. Boring background. Hah. Made a video, just need to figure out how to edit it. Has anyone used DaVinci Resolve? Just downloaded it.
-
@CLCanadyArts Haha this is great
My boyfriend uses Davinci resolve and he loves it, says it's a lot easier than Adobe Premiere, sorry that's no help haha! He says the newest version does tend to crash so save often -
@CLCanadyArts Is day 1 the same for everyone, I mean the topic: Day 1. An animal you like.
I confirmed my email, but didn't get any new topic. -
@MichaelaH Yes I assume so!
-
@hannahmccaffery It's confusing, and it just crashed. Haha, I'll figure it out.
@MichaelaH Prompts are the same for everyone. I haven't gotten an e-mail yet either. I saw the topic for day 2 on the main website, but the previous topics aren't shown for some reason.. I caught a glimpse of it before the day switched. I believe it was, "An animal you like".
@Julike-Challenge The previous days prompts should stay up somewhere. We haven't received an e-mail with the prompt, and our given answers.I feel Inktober's prompt list style is best. All laid out, and late comers or busy people can catch up.
Personally I like to work on multiple prompts per day.
-
@CLCanadyArts Oh no! I think it's a bug with the latest version so hopefully they'll update it soon to fix the problem! I'll ask him if there are any good tutorials online on how to use it for you
-
@CLCanadyArts You're totally right, I forgot to add the previous prompt on the website!
As for the emails, they are sent out each morning, so if you subscribe after they are already sent out you won't directly get a mail with the current & previous prompts.
But every mail has the daily prompt + all the previous prompts in it so you only have to wait 1 day when you missed one.I don't think I can change that at the moment, it is how Mailchimp works. (unless I manually send a mail when new people subscribe, but unfortunately I don't have that much time to do that at the moment). Thanks for the feedback!
As for your first drawing, clean linework, I like it!
-
@Julike-Challenge Thank you.
Honestly I think a fully fleshed out 31 day prompt list would be nice, and simpler. Maybe I'm just impatient.
Planning on making an IG page for julike?
-
And the topic for yesterday: The animal you like, is it the animal I wrote while I was subscribing? Or why did I filled all this questions?
-
@MichaelaH Yeah, it's whatever you answered the question with, but the prompts seem to be out of order from the questionnaire. I took a screenshot of all my answers so I can look back. Not that it matters, no one is going to hold you to the answers you gave, as no one will see them but you.
@Julike-Challenge Today's prompt is messed up. "the main character from your one of your favorite movies"
-
@CLCanadyArts Ohhh I didn't realise that you used the answers to the questions, I don't really remember what I put now haha! @Julike-Challenge can we draw anything or is it based on your answers?
