Which of these sketches tells a better story? I’m thinking of making this one a spot illustration or a vignette if details are needed.

@kayleenartlover wow these are all so cute. As far as which one I think is most unique (that made me laugh) personally I like the one with the lamp. Though all of them are telling some kind of story about a hiding dog.
@kayleenartlover these are all great! It reminds me of how my 3 year old daughter plays hide and seek. The lamp one appeals to me most too. I also like the second from the top. It has some 007 vibes, the dog seems more skilled than the others.
@kayleenartlover The one with the lamp is my favorite, but I also like the one with the flower pot. I love the concept of a character thinking they're hiding because their eyes are hidden, but really we can see exactly where they are! I also like the sketch on the top where we can see the muddy dog prints. That adds to the story because it tells us why he's hiding.
I think I’m more confident about the small dog with the potted plant than the big dog with the side table lamp, just because 1: you can tell by the pose of the dog that he is actively hiding, and 2: the other image puts everything in a straight line so it seems less interesting.
But I am glad that my sketches are successful in being funny!
@kayleenartlover It's looking great, however I would say that it took me a while to realise that he was holding a sandal in his mouth. Just to throw an idea out there, but could the dog just be attempting to hide whilst there is a ripped up sandal in front of the plant pot? Or just lose the sandal and have the previous dirty paw idea leading up to the dogs position
@kayleenartlover looking good, although I still don't think the sandal is readable, and perhaps not needed with the story told through the dirty prints
I'm partial to the one behind the lamp. Reminds me of hide and seek where he wouldn't think anyone could see him since he can't see us. The slipper is also more legible in this one.
Hi! I'm sorry if this is a little late to be of any help...
I find the illustration of the dashund a little hard to read, or rather, I'm distracted by the way it looks as though it has no front paws or head... My brain finishes what's hidden by the pot in a weird way... Ugh, I can't figure out how to explain how I see it. I'll try draw over it:
This is how my brain sees the hidden parts of the dog. It may just be me!
Anyway, I thought it might be clearer to see a little more of the dog's face, though I realise that your intention may be the visual joke of the dog not realising how very visible he is. So I'm sorry if I'm spoiling that!
I'm just going to do a quick draw over to show what I mean, then you can take and leave whatever you like. I do hope something is helpful!
You may also find it useful to be very specific about where your lightsource is so that the shadows can help tell the story.
