October 2024 Submissions - How To Fix Your Art

Colouring is still quite an endeavour for me! I think it's done... and still with some time left! And it seems I really can't do serious prompts

First time submitting to HTFYA!

Question for any watercolor artists: I'm pretty new to the watercolor game, do you folks usually ink AFTER you paint? Or do you ink FIRST and then paint over it?
-
@nohdee Hey thanks! Tried out a quicker style then my usual tiny-brush-rendering-style
-
@Henry-Compton Nice piece! I did read that Peter De Seve first does a pencil-drawing, then paints an undertone (like burnt umber) and then he draws with ink, paints some more, and then draws again with ink. I've got a guide from him that I can send to you if you would like?

@Arthur-Campling Wow, that’s such an interesting process, I didn’t expect that. Yea if you sent me that guide, I’d appreciate it a lot!

Hey all! First time submitting here. Graphic designer by day, hobbyist illustrator by night, always happy to get some critiques. Great work everyone, so fun to see such a wide variety.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for submitting art this month for my prompt! It's been so fun seeing all your creative ideas and interpretations! You guys are so talented; it really motivates me to see all your beautiful work and makes me want to try harder and grow as an artist.
I love that SVS gave us students the chance to submit suggestions and I'm looking forward to more interactivity with the new site launch this month.
Much gratitude!

@menalkhan I REALLY like how you rendered this one, everything reads really well even without color and has nice depth. Really inspiring style here!
I dig the outlines around the characters, gives me Paper Mario vibes. I could totally see this art style in an indie platformer game.
