SVS Virtual Studio AUGUST 2024
-
Holy shamoly, it’s AUGUST already! Can’t wait to see everyone’s artwork as per usual. You guys are awesome; Hope your month is off to a great start. As always, this is not a place for critique, but for lots of oohing, ahhing and encouragement.
-
Had a hard time getting that luminescence at the bottom just right, but I’m calling this one finished, because 20 different attempts is as much as I can take.
-
OMG it's august already

Hi! In the struggle to draw more, also inspired by a thread in this forum about having more fun, I woke up early and just doodled this, with my favorite pencils (which are not really extra art quality grade pencils but are very nice and somehow I keep returning to them)
-
This is my latest illustration. Not for any specific project, just playing around in Procreate. Also included the initial pencil sketch.
-
My son and I have finished the second set of pages for our Batman comic project! Half done and hoping it won't take us a year to create the last 4 pages
-
Hope you guys are having a great summer! -
@ajillustrates I love both of these so much... I'm just jumping into it now. Are yours and your son's pages sequential throughout the story?
-
@annastenger Yep- we’re making an 8 page comic, where we alternate pages in the story, so we’re writing and illustrating as we go. Here’s the first two pages: https://forum.svslearn.com/post/149402

@ajillustrates I LOVE it! Can't wait to see next pages!

Hi everyone, I am peeking in here after being out of the loop for awhile! Anyway, just thought I'd share my current book project! I love the first two images but really am trying to find the love in the last one. The night lighting is not my strong suit. Ideas are welcome!
Thanks!
-
@ArtistErin great stuff! I have a tip for night scenes. Put a medium value blue over the entire image and set it to "hard light". Then reduce it's opacity right down. It'll harmonise the colours into that "nighttime" look. You can then erase parts of that layer put to highlight warm tones from the fire.
-
@MarcRobinson Awesome Marc!! Thank you! I saw in How to Fix Your Art to set foreground layers to a dark blue Overlay and it works in some cases but in this image it came out purplish. I'll try hard light! Thank you so much
-
I’m inking and editing the mini comic I made for the Comics Workshop.
It’s my first time using clip studio paint (usually I work on Procreate) so it’s a learning curve!
-
Hi everyone. I thought I'd share some of the things I've been working on.
-
An upcoming spread, playing with different sizes within the same sequence. The author wants lots of different outfits/times/places within the book, so I am showing that in one spread here. My ideas of showing that progression, is to make the first spot in silhouette, then developing detail as the eye moves forward. My favorite part of this scene, was redrawing a million sequences from about 30 thumbnails. Might be the longest line drawing I've ever done because I wasn't finding the natural dynamic right away. But I am happy now with the result, and excited for painting!

Had an idea rattling around in my noggin to do a cover illustration for the September prompt. Not sure if I will get to it before the deadline or not, but at least I got the sketch out of my head.

This little guy is for a personal project I am working on.
