A Birthday card in a video format, would love to get some feedback? :)
-
Hi! I love creating birthday cards in video format, and I would like to share my latest one with you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPY2PIMvlbw. I'm not sure if this could also turn into a small business, what do you think, is it a stupid idea?

@Enni-Heikura I don't know anything much about the virtual card business. But there is a friend who sends them to us at times and it is so fun to open them. This is a cute little video.

@Enni-Heikura You're illustrations are beautiful! There is good potential for this. I looked and both American Greetings and Hallmark offer video BD greetings.
Your biggest hurdle would be to create enough illustrations to be able to mix and match for each individual greeting/holiday. Pricing would be something you would need to research as well so you make something affordable, but also lucrative enough to be worth your time.
A few suggestions:
-
this sample is a bit slow for me. I would speed it up a bit and try to keep it under 1 minute. 1.5 mins tops. Your video "A boy and a dream" is a good example of great timing during the dance scenes. Use that same timing in your greetings for greater effect. Celebrations like birthdays and weddings, etc, are exciting fun-filled times. Going slow and sweet may not be the best way to create these. Music with a bit more speed might work better.
-
when spelling a person's name, keep the whole name visible at the end, not just individual letters.
-
another detail that would elevate your videos would be to learn how to splice the music so it does not fade out until the end.
Do some more research to see what your competition might be and see how you could make yours unique enough to rise above that competition.
Good luck!

I love your illustrations and think this was wonderful to watch but as previously noted, I think it needs to be much faster, especially because it may take some computers a long time to download. Do you mind sharing the app/software you used?
-
@tom-barrett Thank you very much for your feedback! A lot of good suggestions and points, and I agree that the video should be faster and shorter. I made the video for my sister and chose what I thought was a touching background music, and the pace was based on this music. But I admit that, in general, the tempo should be faster.
I have previously made video cards for my family, especially for occasions like Christmas, so I believe I would be able create cards for other seasons as well
Great point for that name spelling thing!!
I agree that the music didn't fade so great in this one, just need to be more careful with that.
But thak you again, so much great points and so helpful!!

@Larue Thank you for your feedback and comments! I agree that it should be much faster, the music for this one was just too slow (although emotional).
I use power point I don't have any special software.
