Which version to post on website/Instagram?
-
Hi folks,
I recently did a job for a client and, on submitting the final artwork, they asked me to make a change which I duly did. All well and everyone happy.
However, I much prefer the original (showing the sun god, Surya) because I feel the illustration is stronger for it and it also reflects my niche - spiritual/uplifting themes.
That said, I would like to post the original online. But if someone who has seen the book in which the revised version appears then visits my website/Instagram, they won't see the version they saw in the book (showing the sun). This might cause confusion and I don't want anyone to be left with confusion when they are looking at my artwork.
So what would you do? Post the original which you feel reflects the direction you want for your career, or the revised version that will align with what is being officially published?
Thanks for any comments.
Love to you all.

@Adam-Thornton-0 on instagram, I think that you can simply publish both in the same post, so people swipe with their finger between the two versions.
For your website, I would say that it depends what clients you are targetting and what direction you want to go towards for your next projects.

Thanks for that, Geoffrey. That does give me clarity. Makes good sense. -
I think it’s totally fine to post your original version. I wouldn’t worry about causing confusion. People will just assume it’s an alternate version to the published piece which to me is always interesting to see
