Fun new Scam to watch out for
-
I just had an email from a "legal representative" that tried to claim I'm using trademarked images from their CBD gummies website on my personal PORTFOLIO and to contact them and tell them my business address so they can file a claim.
It was a UK company with a Caribbean phone number to contact, who claimed to be an American, with a non-company email and there was zero overlap between the art on my site and theirs.
I assume the scam is to get you to pay them to still be able to use the images that they claim are trademarked, or I dunno maybe they wanted my business address for something else.
Anyway just wanted ya'll to know to watch out for it.
I am going to "not respond" based on the advice of the USPTO here
This is not legal advice! Just sharing my experience.

@carlianne boy if they ever tried that with me that'd give me a good laugh. I'd also be tempted to give them an address like "1313 Mockingbird Lane", but then again I'm also the person that started reading a scammer every digital of Pi I could find when they asked me for a purchase order number so I might have a problem

@lpetiti ahahahaha engaging just makes me more stressed but that's amazing

@carlianne I use it as a stress release because I can be rude to them in ways that I could never be as a teacher. Plus it means I'm wasting their time so they can't scam some other person. What's hysterical is that I tell them I've been wasting their time and they still continue to talk to me.
