Hey guys I just joined SCBWI and I’m wondering who else is on board, I’d like view your profiles so I can idea of how the set up all works I had a bit of trouble at first because my dad (who got me the membership as a gift) didn’t spell my last name right ( I’ve only been married 12 years) lol. Thanks

@Asyas_illos congrats Asyas. I joined something similar, but Canadian based called Canscaip. Enjoy!

Mine is at Kevin-Treaccar, but I’m super early in my journey, too.
Really, you can look around for any authors, illustrators or author/illustrators you like by trying their (first name)-(last name).
I tried Tara Lazar and Vanessa Roeder real quick and they showed up. See if any of your favorites you follow on Instagram or Twitter have #SCBWI in their profile.

@KevinTreaccar good idea thank you!

@Asyas_illos hey, newbie! Welcome to SCBWI! It’s a great organization for anyone interested in publishing, writing, and/or illustrating children’s books - I’ve been a member since 2013 and volunteer for my region as a self-publishing advisor for picture books. Getting involved with your region is super helpful for networking, finding a crit group, and attending shop talks or meetings/webinars. The 2022 update of The Book just came out too - free digital download for members - and it’s got a TON of great info.
If you want to check out my profile and/or illustrator gallery, you can find me here.

@Melissa_Bailey awesome! Thanks a bunch!

@Asyas_illos Welcome! I agree with @Melissa_Bailey about the regional involvement - my region, Mid-Atlantic, just put out our quarterly Highlighter and we all illustrated part of the cover page, and I was able to illustrate the table of contents pattern as well. So definitely check out what your region has in the way of a publication that you could draw for!
You can find my page hereAnd here is the Mid-Atlantic Highlighter

@Kristen-Lango cool thank you!

I've been a member for at least a decade but haven't updated my profile so I'm not a good example. I just wanted to add that the conferences (especially regional ones) and online meets are great for meeting other illustrators, and finding IRL crit groups.
Re: married name, my dad does the same thing, haha! I'm sure it's like a mental block.

I’m a long time member. You should be able to change your name in your settings. If not, you can always email support about it. Im under Mirka Hokkanen. I havent updated my profile in 2 years, but it’s there.
I love SCBWI and urge you to get to know your local chapter, and volunteer, go to meetings online and in person if you are close enough. The free big SCBWI presentations are also very good if you want to go see recordings. You get from the organization what you put into it.
