Feedback for WIP

Howdy!
Just looking for some feedback on this piece. I’d like for this to go in my portfolio so I really want to achieve as much of a solid, professional look as I can. I’d like this piece to feel bright, colorful, and energetic. Here’s a nearly finished drawing along with a color rough
A few specific feedback points:
Does the composition feel balanced?
Is the grandfather on the boat too awkward looking with his legs out behind him? It’s been challenging to draw from a top down view and make it look natural.
Do the values feel balanced? The ocean makes for a light background so my foreground elements should be dark but it’s tricky to pull that off with things like the seagulls that have white on them -
Cool idea.
First, the grandfathers feet… is he standing on the boat or is he in the air and his feet are bent out behind him? If he’s planted, it would be unnatural for one to stand with their toes pointing backwards. If he’s mid air, maybe you can help to make that clearer with a shadow under grandpa, and the impression of his soles in your lighting.
Second thing I noticed, is the proportion of the life jackets. The life jacket on the grandfather who would be closest to the water, is much smaller than the life jacket floating, the life jacket floating looks like it would be a the appropriate size to be on the boy, but not in the water… does that make sense?
The third thing that I can see that’s throwing me off would be the boys limbs. His right leg looks to be almost double the length of the left, and the left arm appears to be longer than his right arm.
I hope this helps.

@AngelinaKizz I think what you’re noticing with the limbs is the foreshortening that’s happening because of the intense perspective. So his fist looks way bigger because it’s closer to the camera and same goes for why his legs look different.
I’m not sure I’m seeing what you’re seeing with the life jackets. The head hole of the jacket in the water is only about the size of the boys nose so it would have to be drawn several times larger if the boy were wearing it.
The grandfather is meant to be kneeling so we’re seeing his feet and calves flat on the boat. Maybe it will look more clear if I lighten the bottom of his feet to show they’re facing up? It might be a better solution to just draw him standing instead.
Thanks for your feedback!
