Re: “The Moment Before I Lost My Mom” Kids Book Project. . . CONTINUED
Hello dear illustration-chums!
Its been a little over seven months since I’ve updated on the “Here I’m Happy” book project (link to previous thread above).
I picked it up again about two months ago. Figure I’ll post the updates here this weekend. Again as always, comments, suggestions, tips and critiques are always welcome. Truly this book would not be what it is today without the help from so so many giving me input and feedback.I’m now on the third major storyline change since the beginning of this project back in August 2019. And I feel like I would pull all my hair out if I have to do another major storyline change. I’ve had to say goodbye to so many good story spreads and finished drawings cause they weren’t valid to the story anymore.
Did some refurbishing to this piece too:
Also, meet Mr. Badger! He is the reason for the last major storyline change (more on him later):
I’ve also been able to add in Little Squirrel’s baby brothers into the story too which is something I’ve been thinking and wanting to do for a while now (before the only evidence Little Squirrel had brothers was in the family picture hanging on the wall in the bedroom where mama squirrel is sick *first drawing above):
I’ll post the rest of the story here in a few days.

Okay, Here is the the story in whole. There are still lots of edits and spreads to fully finish. But its sooooo close! I can almost taste it. . . well, see it.
Each spread is two pages. Just pretend there is a book gutter in the center of each. Enjoy
Since the last version of the story, the words got a present, past and present future tenses throughout the story as it refers to different parts of Little Squirrel’s life. Its been a bit of a struggle trying to get the word tenses right, and still have a smooth transition between the sections. Any suggestions for ‘tense edits’ anyone?
