What size to ink Graphic Novels?

What size do you find both comfortable and efficient to ink Graphic Novels, if using traditional media such as a brush?
For example, for a 5.5x8.5 inch book, is it better to ink it on a letter-size paper, or 9x12 or even bigger such as 11x17 or 13x19?
Thank you!

I’ve been wondering that myself but never found answer on my Google searches. I figure the larger the paper, the better (you’ll also need a larger scanner) but I’m so used to drawing on regular letter size.

I'm working on a graphic novel of my own. I've switched to drawing digitally on a Wacom Cintiq, but when working traditionally, I find it better to do both the inks and pencils on 11 x 17. For me, it's better for the quality of the overall line work. I've always preferred drawing on a larger canvas.

These are pretty helpful with formatting layouts too.
