Winslow the Yeti cooks!! WIP
-
Hello guys!!
Happy new monthly challenge.
Here is a first approach of Winslow.
He is a fine user of spices!!! -
Hello Guys!
Winslow loves to pass the Yeti knowledge of secret spices on the next gen.
In this stage I test the coloring on the messy concept sketch stage.
If you have any points or suggestions,I d love to hear them out! -
Love this character! Seems like you really have him nailed down.
-
I love that the kid also only has one horn. That adds so much information. It's not just a battle scar but hereditary. And yes ...it looks like you have been drawing him for years.
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos Looking good! I really like that the cauldron has legs; gives it some personality. The colors seem to work very well. I can't wait to see the finished product
-
-
Heeeey it’s Winslow ️ cute he has a kid! I would probably remove his cape since he’s in doors but I can understand if you want to keep the silhouette
-
@donnamakesart oh! You recognize Winslow!! Too bad Winslow isn't that cute to win arenas, hah!
that is what was my initial thought but then I figured, why have them inside? I thought maybe add some snowy flooring and they will be picnicking!! -
@Georgios-Christopoulos oh yeah yeah. Would love that haha.
Could I have some advice on how to apply the “flare” part? My yeti is quite somber
-
@donnamakesart of course!! I can t seem to find your thread though.. Can you post a link here so I can check it out??
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos Thanks so much! No pressure though haha. I revamped the design but you can find both versions here: https://forum.svslearn.com/topic/10613/yeti-character-and-home-design/27?_=1613122297441
Regardless, they’re both somber and lumbering. I can’t imagine them cooking “with flare”
-
Here are some of the concepts that I worked with before deciding on the top left. What do you guys think about them?Should I concider any of the others?
It is still too soon,so I can change a lot of things.Nothing is decided!!! -
Hello @Georgios-Christopoulos , these are so cute! I really like the composition that you chose to go with, mainly because of how you're using the space and filling it with story telling details. However, I like the face and arm position of the yeti from the top right thumbnail, because I think he shows more of the 'flair' with cooking that the prompt says. Can't wait to see where this goes next!
-
@Valerie-Light thanks so much!! Yes I was thinking this too. I was so close to picking that one.. Might still do, or I might work on some more concepts.. What do you think of the kids witnessing the magic of Winslows cooking? Do they add to the image or are they irrelevant to the story?
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos You know, now that you mention it, I really like how the kids in the top right sketch are engaged with the cooking more than the kid in the top left prompt. Maybe a way to combine those two roughs and take the best of both worlds?
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos Ha! They look a kin to the rough sketches I did to brainstorm on this topic. I think I like the first one the most, though they all have a nice energy to them.
The letters I like a bit less. The typeface makes the sentence a bit hard to read for me, and intuitively feels like it clashes with the picture itself. -
@Niels I agree with the font. it starts to get a bit confusing.I ll have to find a more subtle one!thanks for your comment Niels!!
-
@Georgios-Christopoulos I love the top 2nd one the most. Though the 1st has space properly utilized and more elements, the 2nd one has more of story, the expressions and the way the hands are used in cooking, the kids both of them have different expressions which is so good.
-
@Rekha-Salin-0 that is true!I also liked the fact of hands being used and children having expressions on that one!thinking I might fuse somehow no1 and 2 together..
-
Final sketch is done!!!
Inking is the next phase!!
What do you guys thinkg of this??
Winslow is having fun with those kiddos!
