Alcohol Marker Proof Pen?

Can anyone recommend a pen that will not smudge when I add alcohol marker over it? I am using a Pentel brush pen and even when I let it dry for a while it will smudge when I put marker over it and I have ruined a couple drawings because of it. I am not saying there is anything wrong with this pen, it is a really great pen by the way, but I don't think it's for markers, unless I'm wrong and I'm just not letting it dry enough. Does anyone have any suggestions for a alcohol marker proof pen?

@cathedralcolors The paper surface is an important factor in this task; I find that Sharpie pen lines on glossy comic boards won't be affected much by the alcohol marker if applied carefully, and the ink adheres even better on a matte or vellum surface.

Paper is most important...thicker, acid free, smooth, etc

copic multiliners are smudge proof

the pentel you reference typically works great for me--i use 100lb smooth acid free paper

@3panther I use moleskin Cahier sketchbook and it is the same thing Jake parker uses and he seems to have no problem. The only thing different is there markers he is using. Could it smudge because of the markers I'm using? They seem more wet than copics.

@cathedralcolors Alcohol is a solvent, so it can dissolve certain other inks. I clean my calligraphy pens with alcohol and it just eats up the inks on my pens, so I can’t use those inks under alcohol markers, just over them once the alcohol has dried.

You’d have to find an ink pen that has an ink that can stand up to solvents. According to my research, Hi Tec C (traditional, NOT collector) gel pens, Zebra Sara (the clip version NOT the normal sarassa), and Pilot G2, as well as Sakura Micron pens have been tested and approved to work with alcohol markers like COPICs.
