What’s on the go for the summer?
-
@AngelinaKizz I guess I should work on my book… haven’t done anything with in a bit.
-
@Asyas_illos Yes, when I finish teaching mid June I will crack on with many things such as continuing with the SVS courses, ideas for Rabbit Road Race, and trying to work on comic roadblocks, and hopefully produce at least one finished piece of illustration. This is my hope but the end of term grading of exams is a lot of tiring and intense work for about 5 days! I may have little energy and need to just enjoy having a break!
-
@Kristen-Lango oh that's a cute illustration!
-
I'm working on my first full length kids book project (but I've been working on it for over a year now so it's nothing new but trying to dedicate more time to it) and then I also want to scope out more fun art entries (like monsters.go on instagram - I recently discovered that one) and I also want to try to overcome my aversion to creating reels for instagram. Here is what I entered for Monsters.go this week. It's a monster based off a child's monster drawing.
-
@Melissa_Bailey definitely good to have a few personal projects! I have a few stories in my head that I'd like to get down on paper too. I submitted 3 for critique, each entry gets 1, each that make the long list get 2, and each that make the short list get 3 (don't find out until November though) . I'll take whatever critique I get, and hopefully rework them into a book dummy that I'd send off to publishing houses.
-
@Valerie-Light I'm inspired by your list of 100 and I'm making my own! I'll be watching for your portfolio update!
-
@Asyas_illos you can do it!!!!! I can't wait to get a copy
-
@PenAndrew everyone needs a break! You deserve to take one! I have holidays booked in July and I'm counting down!
-
@Mary-Toth wow! Great take on the monsters go! What a cute project that page is. I wish there were videos of the kids reacting to seeing their monsters redone.
-
@AngelinaKizz Yes and I am so tired this morning- it should have been a national holiday but they didn't give us a break- so tired I replied to Asya not you. Sorry.
-
@PenAndrew @AngelinaKizz cheers to breaks!
-
That is a whimsical and awesome monster. Well done,
-
I'm working on my picture book manuscripts. Two of them which will be making its round at my critique group next week.
Making a bunch of illos for educational cards in between conducting holiday workshops...
-
@Melissa-Candrasaputra that sounds fun! I can't even begin to think of the holidays yet though. It's still cold here which it shouldn't be. I need some summer to enjoy before I can think of winter again
-
@AngelinaKizz Here is too hot already!
-
@AngelinaKizz I feel you. One of the hardest thing about being an artist for me is that I just can't get used to creating seasonal stuff wayyy in advance when the vibe is totally off. Like making Christmas stuff in July so it is ready for launch by October or something. It is just super awkward for me lol...
-
@Melissa-Candrasaputra Good luck on your manuscripts. What kind of things do you do in your workshops?
-
@PenAndrew Art journaling. Mainly for students and corporate clients as part of their mental wellness programme
-
@Melissa-Candrasaputra I have never heard of art journaling before, just regular journal work. That sounds really interesting Melissa.
-
@PenAndrew it is like regular journal but incorporating drawings, sketches, teach adults how to draw for fun with no pressure give them some exercises on how they represent certain words/ideas/feelings with drawing. Sometimes it involves observational drawing. It's very fun!
