RE: Our SVS virtual studio
I'm trying to get a strong portfolio together. I need to add some spot and vignette illustrations, so this is my latest addition:

RE: AUGUST CONTEST: SUPERSTITION
My superstition is one that says when you see a cardinal after the death of a loved one, the cardinal is your loved one's spirit letting you know they're OK.

October Contest Critique
Howdy everyone. Hey, there's a window up listing other posts, and it's right in front of where I'm typing. Is there a way to get rid of that?
Uh... anyway, I'm working on the October prompt. Does this read OK? Can you tell what's happening? Do you have any suggestions?

RE: SVS JUNE CONTEST: MUSHROOM VILLAGE
The mushrooms are terrified to see that the truffle-hunting pig has found their village, but I think the pig is unnerved by sentient mushrooms.

Personal drawing-a-day challenge
I decided to do a drawing-a-day challenge for November with the theme "Guinea pigs" (Piigvember). I picked guinea pigs because they're something I like, and I've never done a drawing-a-day challenge before, and I figured I'd be more likely to complete it if I picked something that I liked for the first one.
Critiques are welcome.
Here are my first three days:
Piigvember day 1: Zeus
Piigvember day 2: Apollo
Piigvember day 3: Banzai

RE: Our SVS Virtual Studio 🍎 SEPTEMBER 2019
My husband wants me to design a skeleton guy for him, which made me lol because I usually draw cute stuff.
It made me realize that for most of the human form I draw a bit of a skeleton anyway, but to draw skeleton hands I had to draw finished hands and work backwards.
This is a first pass for a more complete figure. I did a bunch of skulls and he picked what he liked best. Then he'll comment on this and we'll go from there.

I finished the bunny. Clover the guinea pig is next.

RE: Our SVS Virtual Studio AUGUST🌻2019
I finished the sticker for my stepdaughter. I had to fix Puppy's ears because I thought they flipped over a little. That's what I get for going from memory.

RE: My superstition WIP
I like my color scheme, but I still feel like things have gotten muddy or lost. What do you all think?
I found a poem that goes with it perfectly. I went ahead and inserted a verse, but if the author doesn't approve I may have to take it out.

RE: I need art friends! =)x
@burvantill Ugh, what a jerk! I think it's terrible when professors say students aren't going to succeed...it's devastating to students. It would be more prudent to just let each student know what they need to address to ensure their success, then if the student addresses it, fine. If they don't, that's on them. But don't just haphazardly crush dreams like that. Sheesh.
Sorry, got on my soapbox there. I had an animation professor and he didn't tell people they'd never make it, but he definitely played favorites and it was really obvious (and discouraging to those that weren't one of the chosen).

Travel Idea - feedback welcome
Hello,
I signed up for the forums here last fall, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how I logged in. After sending password recovery e-mails to both my e-mail addresses, I finally just made a new account. So..um, hi again!
Annnnnnyway, I wanted to at least attempt an image for the travel theme. Anyway, here it is so far:
I came up with this because I asked myself, "What would happen if you stuck a chinchilla in knight's armor?" And then I thought the chinchilla should be riding a llama. And then I thought he should be with a wild cavy riding a vicuna and they should be Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Not that I've read Don Quixote (yet), but I saw that episode of Wishbone about it (#old).
Any feedback is welcome.

RE: Episode 2 - Am I Too Old To Get Started?
When I was in college (back in the early '00's - I sound so old saying that), one of the top animation students was a guy that was a banker until he was 40. Then he quit to study animation - when he graduated he got a job working for Nickelodeon.

RE: What’s your favourite ever artwork?
@rachy , the ham in that Beatrix Potter image used to fascinate me, too! There's just something about it.
I can't pick one image, but these two are some of my favorites:
NC Wyeth:
And Howard Pyle. He died before he could finish this image...I wish my finished pieces could look this good:

RE: Nightmare Before Christmas critique please
Hi Holley!
I did a little draw-over; I hope you don't mind.
Jack's pose is really good, and there are only slight tweaks that I would make with his arms.
Sally's pose is a bit more ambiguous, and what she's doing isn't clear at first glance. I'd move the spider up a bit and reposition Sally so that she reads more clearly in silhouette. As it is her head and shoulders are hunched, and Sally moves more freely than that in the movie (sometimes with or without limbs, ha ha).
Here's my draw-over. My Sally drawing is pretty crappy, but hopefully it illustrates what I mean.

RE: Pets and artwork stories
I once had a cat that would walk across my Wacom tablet and rotate whichever image I had open. I never could figure out how to un-rotate the canvas, so I'd have to close the image and re-open it. Literally every time he stepped on my tablet he'd rotate the image... I tried to figure out how to do it myself and could never do it. He had the magic paws, I guess.
At the moment we have a dog that likes to destroy things...I'm afraid to do any traditional art because she is sure to find it and create art of her own out of it. (Vacuumable art, lol).
Max is cute, BTW. Tuxedo cats are so handsome.

RE: Personal drawing-a-day challenge
@sophie-lawson Really? You just made my day! Thank you! One of my professors in college told me I killed my art when I cleaned it up, so this really means a lot. I've been trying for an obscenely long time to make my work reflect the energy of the sketches.
