@ABCre8ive This is awesome feedback! Just all the questions you have makes me realize how much I have it in my head, but what's not being conveyed. Exactly what I was hoping for, thank you! Genre: I'm trying to do something along the lines of the old Twilight Zone TV show, so it's like a little morality tale set in the old west. So not Zombie. The Story: The basic idea is that Reynolds killed his buddies to take all the gold for himself and they've come back to get their revenge. I wanted there to be a kind of "twist" where his greed and paranoia ends up sowing the seeds of his own demise. Obviously his motivation is not coming across here. Classic example of trying to cram my characters into a plot I've "oh so cleverly" devised! Great stuff for me to chew on, I might have to go back to the script, but better to catch this kind of thing in the thumbnails than after having spent ages designing everything out. Thanks again!

@robgale While in a book I found this illustration that is a sole sketch and then one that crosses over and has both. Just to add to the discussion. This book has three illustrators, so I don’t know whose who: Ian Andre, Nick Harris, and Helen Ward. Book is The Egyptology Handbook.

@Coreyartus Thank you so much! Your post is super encouraging, I'm really glad you liked it and that it reads as it does for you. Making art can really put you in a weird place sometimes where you can't see things as other people do anymore, so I really appreciate the feedback here. I hadn't thought of doing an illustrated version of the play to be honest, but it might be a fun idea! As for text, yes, I would like to put at least a title on, but haven't quite worked my way around to that piece yet. Thanks again for taking the time to leave the feedback!

@monkeymintaka that’s cool can’t wait to see what you make! Ugh same here... i was sad to find out the pentel pocket brushpens are not waterproof so when I tried to use watercolor on them it turned into a mess! I started using “Dr. Ph Martins bombay black” waterproof ink. The discovery of different tools is the fun part!

@Gary-Wilkinson Awesome. Yes. It's great to hear about people's experiences, what they've arrived at through trial and error. I like that so many people are saying the same thing... basically spend a lot more time up front and the painting will go faster and you'll be happier with the results. I also like your comment about, if it's taking longer than the 20 hours (for you) it probably means something more fundamental isn't working. Thanks!

It is really cool to see all these different applications. @sigross That floor looks really cool. Again, one of those art things that is so easy to take for granted that someone had to do that. The lesson I'm taking from this (so far): art is everywhere, keep your eyes open opportunities come from random places or word of mouth, not necessarily through "advertising" yourself (though you want to be visible so that you can be found) There is the potential for taking initiative and "nudging" others in a context where you already are to let you try something new

@burvantill Yeah! I am learning so much, would love to hear if you start using any of his techniques in your process. I love how his point of view is just, do whatever it takes to make a great picture. Anything goes sort of thing @TwiggyT@Feleri Thank you so much! I've been looking at it so long already, it's sometimes hard to still see it clearly, you know? It's nice to hear that it still reads and has some sort of impact.

@gary-wilkinson Great stuff! I feel like this process will be a constant back and forth between "defining" and allowing things to take their natural course. I am naturally a somewhat anxious person and I think it becomes hard to remember to just enjoy the process, so constantly reminding myself of this, and hearing about other people on similar journeys is extremely helpful. Looking forward to seeing your 100 kids project take shape!

@justinmoss Thanks! I like hearing how you are seeing a different "story" in each one. I'll have to think about that a bit more, what the story is I am more interested in telling here. I agree about what you're saying about his face popping out in the first one. I wasn't sure if it felt weirdly like it was floating in this sea of darkness. Of course there are ways of fixing that with lighting and what not. And I do like the stronger line of action in the second one. Again, I guess it comes back to what story I want to try to tell with this. Thanks again for your thoughts! I really appreciate you taking the time to have a look and let me know. @Art-of-B Thanks for the feedback! It's always cool to see how different people react. @Zombie-Rhythm Thanks for your thoughts. I totally see what you mean about the perspective. I will have to go in and really try and work that out. I definitely appreciate the technical details and your photographer's eye on this! And you just may see some spaghetti western work coming up as well. I'm such a sucker for that stuff. Thanks again!

@robgale Wow, I love this one. I love sketchy graphite work. This guy is a dapper gent but something about his expression gives me the feeling that he is not completely trustworthy. Compelling image.
