    • Basic perspective drawing - final assignment

      Hi

A month ago I finished the basic perspective drawing class. I feel perspective is one of my biggest weaknesses. So I dragged my feet doing this assignment. I have done 3 drawing that I am quite happy with. This is the best of the 3 drawings.
Thank you to all of you who have done the final perspective assignment and putting it up on this forum. It was encouraging to see. It was because of this I decided to have ago at it.

      Critiques are welcome.

Hey, I will join you again in this class. Your last group on prop design helped me out immensely. So these are my designs. 22BF317E-D9E4-430B-A2E4-4520F488E9E5.jpeg 554ED18A-4BD1-402B-BC7E-62C118A7077B.jpeg B44F7FE7-3E54-44E8-86F6-8277E034E463.jpeg 8E239084-D789-4EAC-BDD9-B5126B1237D4.jpeg

    • A question about career change.

      Hi

I am in my late 30’s, a father of 3 and work as a shipper/receiver for a plumbing wholesaler. Most of my working life my jobs have been lower tier physical labour jobs with some exceptions.
I really like the 3 point perspective topic about having dreams, and working towards them. This year i have been pushing myself out of my comfort zone with my art. Wanting to kick my skill level up a couple of notches and trying to work towards my dream of illustrating 1 kids lit book and/or making illustrating a full time job. My goal this year is to have a website show casing my portfolio.
So with this in mind i have some questions:
Is it too late to make a career change into illustration?
Is this dream attainable how did you do it? What steps did you take to get to where wanted to be?
When did you decide to make it a full time gig? Or, did/do you still work a full time job and do illustration on the side?
Is there a well known illustrator that you admire that started their illustration career later in life?

Thanks for taking your time to read.

      Rob

I had joined svslearn in feb last year. I did this in October of last year. This was the first time I felt like I wasn’t fighting with the artwork. It was also the first time I actually planned out my work and was totally happy with the results.

    • Sketchbook collector.

My wife was cleaning our art closet and looked through my sketch books. She notice that in most of my sketch books I only used 2 to 5 pages and one sketch book complete. Does anyone else draw in a couple of pages in a sketchbook, forget about that sketchbook and start drawing in a new sketchbook?

Is it o.k to add or/and change a couple of words in the text as long as it has the same gist? Or is the text that Will Terry gave set in stone?

This one is 3 years old. My process is still over the place. Back then I would draw the character before I even thought about the background.

This is one of my first digital painting. It is from 5 years ago. I had no clue what I was doing, my process was all over the place. A lot of my digital artwork back then was not completed.
