@Frost-Drive I've seen a few work, Ty Carter has one that does really well (but he's really well known). However, I think it works well to center it around a project. Brad Guigar and Dave Kellett are two good examples of this. Most of it for me will still be around a comic.

Hi! If you want to see Indy artist portfolios, poke around the comcbookcollabs subreddit, digitalwebbing and deviant art (lots of examples around there). If you are looking for professional portfolios, just pick up a few comics and Google the artists. Everyone has a web portfolio these days. Lots of people use squarespace but it's a bit expensive. Depending on what you want to do, you should curate your portfolio. Independent artists are expected to do it all (pencil, ink, color, sometimes letter). Professionals tend to do one step in the process. If you are going for a traditional professional job, fit your portfolio to the job you want. I.e. if you are trying to do inking, show examples of your inking (with a few of the pencil pages for reference). If you are applying for pencilling / general sequential stuff, show pencilled pages (with a few examples of the script you worked from.) My website has a sequential section, but I don't do a lot of paid work... Yet! aaimiller.com. Not saying it's great, but it's an example.

oh, I saw this video somewhere too, I cannot find it rn. But I remember that page 1 is an intro, 2 is a hero assembling, 3 a culmination, 4 a plot twist, and on the 5 you continue the plot twist or bring the finale

Comics is a sequential art so you still need to show you are able to: tell a story in images draw the same character and it would still look the same from panel to panel and from page to page. draw characters in different poses, mostly exaggerated draw people of different body types draw different camera angles. handle the text and balloons, handle sound FX, and show moods in color. you can still team with others to create comics. let's say you specialize as a penciler, someone else will be the inker, another will do the flats and a 4th will do the colors... Some comics are not even in colors, some are in ink only, or ink and ink washes like The Walking Dead....so I would argue perfecting proportions, anatomy and perspective is a MUST.

@alexsen I pre-ordered one of these in August and they keep delaying the shipping date. The latest word was that they are supposed to start shipping in April. If I ever get one, I'll let you know how well it works.

@smceccarelli We do a lot of different work, some with animation and some live action. Budget doesn't necessarily seem to be an obstacle. But I'll check out those books! Thanks!
