Here’s my entry. It’s about the hidden masterpiece of the heavens which we can only mostly appreciate at night and even then, we still find it hard to connect the stars. I hope you guys like it.
Hi, everyone! So recently I mentioned that I was studying for my Civil Engineering Licensure Exam. Just last May 5-6, I took the exam and it’s only this morning did we get the results. I PASSED!!!!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy! I feel so blessed! This may not seem that big of a deal art-wise but it changes everything for my career. This means I can now focus on studying art and finding some freelance work. I don’t need to split my time between school and art. Now I can focus on my craft. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter of my life. Thank you so much to everyone who has been with me all the way.️
Hi, everybody! Here’s my Misunderstood Monster. I hope you guys like it!
Hi, everyone! I’ve been trying to spend my time wisely this holiday season and drawing as much as I can before my classes resume.
As I was doing my christmas illustration, I came up with the idea of drawing my childhood. My childhood probably isn’t as unique as others might have but it’s really special to me. And as I was creating my first illustration (seen below), I can’t help but get myself really immersed and very exicited. Perhaps it was nostalgia doing its thing. It took me lesser time to finish the piece compared to my previous works. I really wanted to make a 3-piece illustration series out of this. I wanted to paint my childhood joys and experiences growing up in a small rural town in the Philippines, playing in the mud and rain and all that fun stuff.
I’m posting it here in order to impose accountability on myself. If I didn’t, I might just chuck this project in the back burner. So... I hope you like the first installment. Two are still coming. Thank you so much.
Hi! I think my most noticeable improvement this year, I would say, is my rendering skills. A year ago, I would just paint in flat colors, add some shadows and maybe some highlights. I didn’t really consider ambient lighting and such. Secondly, the most noticeable change in my work is in my style more specifically in my textures. A year ago, when i was still using a wacom intuos small, I would ink and shade the artwork traditionally and then scan and color it digitally. I love the effects it made but it was tedious and time-consuming. Now that I’m using an ipad, I made the conscious decision to go full digital. It was tough. I tried so hard to recreate the textures digitally but it was futile. I wouldn’t call it as an improvement since I still really like my initial style but it is a huge change. Below are samples of my work a year ago and currently.
Here’s mine. Happy Holidays from the Philippines everyone!!
Here's my Entry for this Month's Prompt. I call it Mermaid Cruise.
I am very into mermaids this month (Wrong month actually. I should have been into it last MerMay instead :3). So when the prompt called for"Transportation", I thought, why not make something like a mermaid-run travel company. So This is the illustration I came up with.
I picture those animal passengers are off to some tropical island for vacation.
This illustration was done first by sketching on a piece of paper by hand and then coloring it in Photoshop.
If you're interested in viewing my previous works, here's a link to my portfolio

Ok so i haven’t really made my piece for this month’s prompt but i thought it would be fun to share a piece i made a while back that relates to the topic.
How’s that for a misunderstood monster? hahahaha!
(The illustration above is not my entry for this month)
Here’s my entry. I was thinking of calling it “autumn gown” or something. I’m not really sure. I hope you guys like it. This is not the piece i planned on submitting at the start of the month but my intial plan was too complex for me so i placed it at the back burner for now. Thank you to everyone who helped me.
Hi, guys! I made this illustration hoping to add it to my portfolio. Before I do, I would like to ask some critiques from you, lovely people of SVS. I first sketched and shaded it on paper and then I colored it in photoshop. Please let me know if there's anything I should work on more. Thank you so much!
Hi everybody! After a failed attempt last month to join the svs contest, i finally had the time to finish a piece. It has been a while since i joined. I think the last time was last year. Anyway, i apologize for this last minute post but i need your critique guys. My piece is about the Hidden masterpiece of the heavens which we can only appreciate mostly at night. And even then, we still find it hard to connect the dots/stars and appreciate it’s great beauty.
For thIs illustration i wanted to beef up my portfolio with animals so i set the scene in a forest camping site with a lot of furries. I hope you guys like it. Please share to me your crtiqiues. It’s a bit late but i’ll take whatever you can give and try to improve my piece as much as i can thank you.
Here it is:![0_1532877079467_B1240C9D-4BA3-4F14-8638-6BF504479E85.jpeg](/assets/uploads/f iles/1532877267655-b1240c9d-4ba3-4f14-8638-6bf504479e85-resized.jpeg)
Hi everyone! I’m here again with my last minute posts. Sorry... Anyway, i’ve made this illustration for this month’s prompt. That girl is supposed to be me. LOL When i was young, i wanted to be a popstar and would sing to every visitor that would come by our house. I really thought I sounded good at that time but looking back at it, I was just sputtering gibberish and my voice was atrocious. Hopeful, by now, it’s not that bad. I made this piece because my portfolio really lack an in-door scene plus i wanted to do a period piece and experiment with the lighting.
I really wanted to post my process and ask for your guys’ thoughts early on but i was really pressed for time and decided to go with my gut. But now that I’ve reached this far, I would like to hear your opinions/critiques. Please let me know if there’s anything you think I should work on more. I will definitely consider all of your advice. Thank you very much.
Hi, everyone! I’ve been working on this piece for a while. Below are my progress. This piece was really tricky. I struggled a lot to make my 2 dancers standout. I’m still not finished but. Hopefully i’m on the right direction. I’ll. get back to you guys tomorrow.
After considering all of your comments in this thread, I've decided on my top 2 drawing tablets. Many tablets were great and almost made it to my list but only 2 rose up to the top (for me at least). They are:
1st Wacom mobile studio pro
2nd ipad pro
I decided solely on their drawing capabilities and portability --- the two main selling points for me. There is without a doubt that the mobile studio pro performs better (just my opinion and based on some reviews i read and watched tho) However, though i consider the wacom mobile studio superior to the ipad pro, I find its price very discouraging. $1799 for its least configuration?!!! That's 2 ipad pros and 2 apple pencils. THAT'S TWO TIMES THE MONEY I HAVE!
That is why for the moment, I think I'll go with the ipad pro. Untill I can earn enough money again that is.
Thank you all so much for all of your inputs and suggestions! It really made the decision making easier.
