@mag So beautiful! Love the textures and the colors, I keep noticing new layers as I look at it. That little dog's face is just so precious.

Gee, the sketch is so awfully cute that I want to save it! I love your roly-poly fennec and bear designs! But I admit I am having a hard time following the story without extra cues, so maybe it needs tweaking a bit. If you go with a fennec, maybe make it comically obvious that he's just arrived from warmer climes? Maybe he's dressed for summer and has a suitcase? Also, @carolinedrawing has a good point: A desert fox's tracks in the sand wouldn't be so completely different from snow tracks as to be shocking. But some other animal's might be. I think you've got a good start here, but it just needs some more thought. Sorry, I know that means hard work for you. For me, digging for a concept that works with the prompt is the hardest part! But your idea is a good one, and your sketch looks very promising, so it will be worth it!

@mag Haha yeah it's so difficult to decide what to include in the site, I just looked at sites of people I like and took bits and pieces from each that I thought worked to make something for myself! Same, if I find any other alternative mailing sites that would be suitable I'll be sure to let you know

@mag Hi Mag. I used to work in web & UI design. Here's my feedback. Positives: Clean, simple, easy to navigate. It will allow potential agents / publishers to quickly browse through your work without any fuss. Clean background doesn't detract from your work. Works well on a mobile as well as desktop / laptop. All links pointing to the right info. Negatives: Like some others have pointed out, some information about who you are, what you have done in the past and what led you to do what you're doing. Or may be something about how long you've been in the industry and your accomplishments thus far. I was at a recent SCBWI conference and they recommended that our About section is written in from a third person perspective. This allows agents / publishers to cut and paste when they need to promote you or talk about you. I think this can flesh out your Contact page. So no need to add an additional page and further complicate a beautifully succinct site. I personally feel a recent photo of yourself on that page is a good idea. This is not comfortable for me either but people like having a face to put to a name. I hope this was helpful. Best wishes for everything Cindy

That's great news! Also, I just wanted to mention there's a Twitter PBPitch tomorrow (2/21) if anyone does have a manuscript ready to pitch. Lots of agents/editors are gonna stop by: http://www.pbpitch.com/

@mag Other than doing the usual thing of estimating time and charging an hourly rate I'm really not sure. I suppose you could always ask them what their budget is... I'd check in whatever contract you sign that you still own those sketches though.

Sometimes I feel really silly to step into this business so early. I am also glad someone did hire me back then - where I am now is because of them...I just really really want to do a higher level now and I'm afraid this will not be possible with the package of my old amateurish art. Thank you for your comment. I sure will think about what you've said. You've got a point there - with the recent work featured on the site and the progress and diversity. I still will not show some of the worst old work in my portfolio though As they say - a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
