Well, I don't know about procreate, but in a program like Photoshop you can adjust the opacity or flow, and how much texture is coming through on the brush. If you feel the canvas texture is too similar across the entire picture, you could adjust it to have more in certain areas than others.

RE: WIP - question
I think it's a question of style really, and what you are going for. How do you like the canvas texture coming through? Personally I think it looks nice, and it's often done in one form or another to add some texture to a digital painting.
I cant help with the technical aspect, but if you could tone it down a bit in certain areas and leave others more prominent maybe that would work better.
As for the image itself, I think you could work a bit on the silhoutte of the donkey and rider. Imagine looking at it without knowing the story, or anything about the image, does it read easily that its a rider on a donkey? Push the values a bit so their is more contrast on your focal point, and make the silhouette read better, and it will look fantastic.
Keep up the good work.
RE: Where to get Portfolio reviews?
I know schoolism has a portfolio review with Craig Mullins, but it's very limited, 2 people are accepted each time it's offered, its curated who is accepted, and and I believe it's about $1000 usd.
Something I want to try some day, is Stephen Silver's mentorship, check it out here, it's 30 mins for 30 usd. He is such a great teacher, listen to his talks on YouTube if you haven't.
Those are a couple I know off the top of my head, good luck.
RE: Kid Lit 411 illustration
Looks great, I can't help but think if the music bar had some more movement to it, like a wave almost, it would help lead the eye through the picture in a more pleasing way. I feel that both shapes arcing in kind of a mirror is fighting a bit for my eye to follow them both.
Keep it up
Some Inktober Work
Hey there everyone, havent posted since I introduced myself, hope I can become more involved. So this past inktober was my first, and I thought I would post some of what I did as an introduction to my art. I took the official prompt list and decided to go with a samurai/feudal japan theme. You can check out the rest on my instagram if you are interested. I would love any critiques or feedback, I felt I learned a lot and it was great fun.
