@tess Great ref, I think what works in these illustrations is that the illustration is cut into sections with the big and small, For example, the second illustration with the zoo animals has the big section which is the giraffes, elephants and whale section. then there is the medium section hippo, rhino, lion, and bear. and then there is the small objects scatter around filling the illustration. which allows your eyes to wander and rest between the different sections as you pick out the detail of the illustration.
This looks really good.
Just been checking out everyone portfolios,
@Andyg I like your art style it reminds me of Shoo Rayner illustration style
@lmrush love the water colour style, that's my natural traditional medium when I am not working digitally ( which is super rare these days) I really like the boy in the boat with the whale illustration.
@Gary-Wilkinson Great caricatures
@DOTTYP cool portfolio, I really like the Just a mask illustration.
@Eric-Castleman Hi, I like your rendering style It's really great, So I don't think it's the style.
What I think is throwing you off the moment is that everything is smooth I would want to contrast the smoothness of the plant against the character by making it furry or spiky...
And as for changing styles, I did that at the beginning of this year to shift the type of work I get from cartoon thick line style to a more traditional looking art style more suited to the children's picture book market.
@tombarrettillo Hey, I use Ugee HK1560 15.6 Inches . I think the colour is the best I have seen on these Cintiq alternatives
@Andyg Hey if you want to get good quality prints of your digital work. I think Klein imaging they are fine art printers who print on specialised paper, really high quality production.
@bharris just had a look at your portfolio and I think you have a great illustration style,
The story of these illustrations comes through really well. great compositions. I think you might want to change the perspective of one of the illustration so that the story isn't told from the same view point. maybe an over the shoulder view of the map...
@Andyg No problem, Here is the website link for them www.kleinimaging.com, They do Giclee printing on different types of paper to fit particular needs. the paper I am going to be using from now on is the HAHNEMÜHLE GERMAN ETCHING 310GSM. it is really great texture and quality and the printing colours are accurate and rich. They are ibased n Manchester and they allow you to go and visit them as well, which I still need to do
Cool that's a good business deal to get to sell prints of one off the pictures and to get someone wantng to sell them s well!
