Was initially going one way with the illustration, then listened to our gurus on one of the podcast episodes encourage us to draw the scene before or after the action... super simple, but this is what I came up with. This is the best I can paint on photoshop right now, but I'ma SVSlearn and improve!

So much to learn, practice, and master — trying to fan the flame needed to become an illustrator.

RE: APRIL CONTEST: Lisa's robot invention worked great, until it did this...
@carlianne @Heather-Boyd These are from a children’s book series as told by Grandma Chicken (Mamie Poule) - I guess kinda like Mother Goose. Quick google search of the illustrator: https://www.gautier-languereau.fr/auteur/herve-le-goff
My wife (from Paris) didn’t grow up with these stories - I think they’re quite recent.

April Contest WIP (my great debut)
Sorry - it's not that great. But, it's a big deal for me! Lee White challenged artists to enter contests in one of the early 3 Point Perspective podcasts, so here I am~
These are initial sketches. My wife and I looked into getting one of those robot vacuums... but we didn't.
Main problem I'm trying to work out - how to make robot the focus when it seems it has to be way in the back, especially if I want to have a bunch of stuff getting sucked in in between Lisa and the bot. Actually - I'm also not sure it's clear that that's what it is. Complete profile perspective? Is this even interesting enough to work out? Seems really obvious... but my quick google search didn't yield any similar results...
Thanks all~! -

Hi Stacey~ I’m a new to the community too and thought “Who am I to welcome her?” - but we can welcome each other

RE: April WIP brings May.... Robots?
@EliaMurrayArt holy moly this is incredible. Never heard of needle felting (or pretty much any of the other techniques you’re using), but getting to see your process - it looks so fun! Especially love that shot of you dumpster diving for your girl and her robot

RE: Pod Cast Question - 3 Point Perspective
@Will-Terry this is shameful: my dream is to be “discovered” without ever risking putting myself out there, and get paid far more than I deserve, learning the skills magically as I go. So lazy!! Then I wise up and begin to get excited about the actual process of learning and growing and being a member of the artist community (like here at SVS). The dream transforms: to put in the time and effort and put myself out there and see what can actually happen. But that’s not a dream... that’s commitment, discipline, resilience, and sacrifice. But then again... that does feel like a dream

@chrisaakins haha my graffiti artist friends would approve. Or disapprove. Not sure..

RE: Drawing with Digital Pencils - Classwork
@Casual-T Really fun drawing. Great adjustments (and commentary) with the muzzle and teeth
I was thinking that maybe you could make the bunny's shadow follow the texture of the grass. It looks like of like the shadow is floating over or under the grass as it is.
I'm pretty new to the SVS classes and new to the Forums (I think this is my first entry in a forum ever~), and there are SO MANY great classes on here and so little time (COVID offers me zero time at home, with toddler and newborn) but you've convinced me that this Digital Pencil class is one I MUST take! -

RE: Which thumbnail do you like?
Hi! I like 1, for all the reasons already mentioned, and 2 - that little carriage/buggy/wagon(?) bumping through the woods is pretty darn charming. But the figures sitting stiff and looking straight ahead doesn’t quite convey “carefree” or “wonder.” I’d like a mix of 2 and 4.. or wait, how about a mix of 1 and 2??

@carlianne love the vibrant colors and movement. I've been wanting to try a style like this - no lines, only tone... for lack of knowledge, I've been calling it "french style" - maybe because a few of my daughter's french books are illustrated kind of like this.
