Here is my final piece for the challenge.
I starting to do the silhouettes and I absolutely love the idea, I was even sitting at work today waiting to go home so I could finish my first building design. I plan to ultimately do about 25 buildings and create a whole city overlook piece. But here is my first concept pieces.
One thing I also want to do afterwards is come up with outside objects for the town, and draw a bunch of little things that can fill empty space in the streets or other open areas that will present themselves when I get closer to my final project.
My final version of my piece. I stated in my WIP thread that my computer really began to lag when getting into the effects and multiple layers. It's a bit frustrating but I have new PC parts on the way!
Nothing too fancy, but here is my entry! The Terrorcorn... Outhouse for scale
Fell a bit behind on this because I came down with some sickness and also ended up working OT at the same time! But everything here is layered out and ready to be rendered. I attempted a different approach to this picture by layering out all the individual buildings and areas.
Also I totally wasn't happy with my initial sketches and decided to draw a mushroom village based on a real village so this was the image I used to get what I have

My simple idea for this treehouse prompt.
I hope to one day be chosen as well but I know I definitely have a lot to work on. I like the contests/challenges more because if I am ever in a month where I don't know what to create, I can look to the monthly challenge prompt.
Also I think it's super awesome to see what the prompt is and just see how many different pieces come out of it. I hope they don't stop regardless of who is top 3 and the honorable mentions!
There are so many fantastic submissions here!!
Here is what I came up with.
Here is my first image so far, used the Anchor I drew from inktober. I am currently brainstorming what to put in the background to fill the whitespace without taking away from the anchor and its inside.
@RJWoodworth Thanks! I think what inspired it was a mix between liking the creature design itself (Murloc from World of Warcraft) and just thinking of cereal. Mrrgl is kind of like some of the sounds they make, and I was just sitting at work thinking about a Murloc cereal, in my head Mrrgl-O's sounded really cool. I think just kind of telling myself I wanted to come up with some logo designs for practice helped push my mind towards this.
Thanks for the response @Chip-Valecek ! I did like the first face a little better as well, but after talking with a few people in person who know the creature type we agreed the final one was more appropriate. I have since made a few minor adjustments to get some edges off of each other and thickened up some lines. Can't wait to print a few and see how they look on paper!
My initial "napkin" sketch
Then the follow up sketch after I decided that napkin sketch was the idea I wanted.
First ink to try and see how my lines would look. Didn't like it, so I redrew it and did it again.
The ink redraw!
And my final Piece!
There are a couple small changes I plan on making, like mAllow instead of mEllow, and just going to move the text of Captain a little bit down off the border, and might thicken up some of the exterior lines, but otherwise I was quite pleased. This whole process took about 5 hours from through/design to finish. I have been wanting to practice more design and logo looks and originally wanted to do this in Illustrator but ended up doing it in Photoshop instead.
Nothing too fancy, but here is my entry! The Terrorcorn... Outhouse for scale
I decided I wouldn't have time to do this one digitally, but I have been enjoying drawing and inking pictures this month so I went that route. I decided my monster would be the Terrorcorn after doing some rough sketches and felt like a horse monster would be cool. You will see below but here are my Sketches as well.
And finally! The Terrorcorn!
I really love this picture. I am not at home so I can't circle what I am about to mention but the one thing that I saw right away that sticks out to me is the tree limb on the tree with the face gets bigger instead of smaller, and the base of the limb is smaller than the rest. To me that just looked a little weird. If it's a style choice then by all means leave it in! Like I said I really like this picture and if I were to add or change anything it might just be to try and add a few more things the girl might have done to make the trees less ominous. You could maybe play around on a new layer and see if any little extras work, you might find something or you might not.
Just came in to say thank you for sharing this book! I plan to check it out and hopefully it can help me get back on track!
I just did this guy while I was at work on Christmas. Just a fun little mushroom man looking like a christmas tree. I don't normally use markers and pens so it was fun to do him!
But mostly Copic Marker practice, I wish I started investing in these earlier! I only have a few colors so far but am slowing buying more as I go on. Got some more for myself this holiday season as well as some acrylic paints and small canvases to practice some traditional painting!
What have you got for yourself this holiday?
@paolatosca Thank you for this! My days off are coming up and I plan on taking all the advice so far and putting it to good use, so far I have made a few small adjustments and started reworking the fur, and with your advice on the lighting/shading, I should have a pretty good looking piece here in a couple days! I'll have an update posted in the next couple days.
