A cracked looking glass has turned Alice’s wonderland into a superstition-land, mostly bad, but a glimmer of hope with the glimpse of a rabbit’s foot.
Here's mine. Thanks @ShannonBiondi for putting this together. When we need them most, our loved ones can feel near.
Okay I took on the Draw 50 things challenge, that took a long time! I'm not sure I followed the rules exactly for 50 things, but I drew over 50 different things. I would like to finish it and include it in my Lullaby project. This is for Goodnight My Someone from The Music Man, but reimagining the song for a lullaby instead of a love song. Any feedback would be great. There is no way I could have taken this on before all these SVS classes. Oh and I don't know if I could have done this without doing it digitally, I mean I could have but I might have gone crazy. Being able to resize things so easily is great! still getting used to the ipad pro.
Okay here are my mermaids rockin it out. My daughter was actually just in the Little Mermaid Jr. and she was a mersister. It was fun to base all the different mermaids after her and the girls that were in the play. I like the new monthly contest idea. It is fun to see what everyone has come up with, amazing work here!
Ok so this my project I'm working on to hopefully generate some good portfolio pieces, but for right now to implement what I'm learning at SVS. I just joined a month ago. I'm such a nerd I would love to do all the homework assignments in the classes, but I'm just finding it hard to find the time, unless they are super short. If I'm doing the homework assignments then I don't have time to do my own projects. Then I get frustrated that I'm not getting stuff done that I want to do. Anyone else struggle with that?
I'm kind of obsessed with song books, because I love singing to my kids, but have such a bad memory with the words. I want to get this done before my 6 month old gets too old to be able to use it. I made a Disney Lullaby songbook, totally just copying illustrations from the movies, but in pastel. But it is so fun to have and sing from. I know these aren't things that I could sell because of copyright, but I'm hoping with illustrating songs from Musicals that I can create my own illustrations and get good portfolio pieces.
These two were before I started taking SVS classes:
This one I just did after taking some of the fundamental classes:
I am happy overall, but frustrated that the balloon looks too modern, which I didn't think about until I finished it, I tried to add some ropes in there to make it look more old fashioned. I am also wondering about the simplicity. I like art that is more simple, but I'm wondering if it is too simple. I love Mary Grandpre and Claire Keane. Any critiques welcome, thanks!
Loved this podcast. So much great info. I love hearing their different "perspectives" especially when they differ, so interesting. It is nice to think about the phases and to have an outline so I can work on the gaps.
I do take issue with telling people to get less sleep. I think that getting enough sleep, eating healthy and exercising are so important for your creativity. But maybe I have spent too much of my life sleep deprived. It effects my mood, stamina, relationships, self esteem, belief in self, and drive to get things like art done. I think if you need to get less sleep to get things done it should be temporary, but not a life habit. That is my opinion and what I have found works much better in my life (just turned 37 )
I am cutting it close. Midnight PST right?
