Hi,
I am a beginner artist, who wanna get serious about it and learn a lot. My goal is becomming an illustrator. I am new here and am very excited to be part of this community.
I wanna learn fundamentally, but in my small city, there is no art school and not even private ones who can teach illustration. So, I have to search for online sources. But watching online sources, we get no feedback and I find it a problem :(. I hope I can learn from the artists in this community and am very excited to learn.
I am open to all the ideas and suggestions .
Hopefully, can take part in the challenges as well.

@Eywin
I have started my journey to become a good artist. My current skills are terrible, since I am a self-taught who have only drawn on her free-time till now, but I wanna get serious about it from now on. Unfortunately, I have not studied art in school, but Physics, and so that is what I am actually good at. But I want to finally get into the path of my interest before I die. It is so hard for me to find out my path in art and am searching to find it.

How to Draw Everyting excercises
I have started with SVS courses and of course, with the "How to Draw Everything". I believe that it is better to work out of the box and therefore, will share my homeworks even though they look crappy. The upside-down one is actually not bad, but the two others went really out of proportions.
Would like to hear your ideas.
Also, is there anyone here new to the courses as well and wanna stay in touch and improve together? I love to work with all of you

Working artists
Hi everyone. I hope you all are having a great day, I just was wondering if there is anyone here who has studied something except art and now is a working artists?
Or is even doing an other job and is persuing art as a hobby? This question is coming from someone who is currently very confused in her fluctuating decisions. -

RE: Working artists
@neschof thanks a lot neschof for your detailed story. Oh my God. You are also a Physicist? Me too. I've loved art since childhood, while my best friend entered artschool, my family also have not been conviced that art is a profession. My friend was not good in math, while I was so good in it and I honestly loved Physics. Physics was my own choice and I kept studying and working in it so passionately, till the passion is destroyed when I was doing my PhD. I have considered quitting, but didn't want to be a quitter. So, I destroyed myself to finish it and it made me hate Physics. I am still working, but considered to also make a part-time job. But everyone are looking for a full-timer. I guess right now I am exhausted enough to give it a break. I have no problem with it and have saved enough money for a few months to go. The only problem is that I am scared to ruin my CV as a Physicist by a few months of no work, as well as, I am not sure if I will one day reach to a level to get job as an artist to get paid well. Because yeah, there is a long way to improve. So, I guess I should search more for a part-time job. But my main concentraion is to learn as much as I can in the next few months and make a good art portfolio. I have to worriness with art:
1- Not being able to do it for living
2- I am a very extrovert and I have to always work alone at home -
RE: New here....

RE: Discovering my style.
@Amanda-Bancroft I really like your suggestion of making a collage. I have just listened to the course and gathered some drawings of the artists I like their styles. I have started with the 1st master copy and am trying to analyze the style during the process. But, I was having hard time to understand what will be my style coming out of these different ones. I like the collage idea. Hopefully it works for me too
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.

RE: Working artists
@NessIllustration thank you so much my friend for your help. I have read her story on her webpage and it is too inspiring for me. Cause she is exactly the person who I was looking for. I am a Physicists, but despite my love to art, I get no time to really learn or practice. Mostly I come home so exhausted and the time passes by. I am considering to quit my job and sit for a while and just persue art but this decision is very scary. I have enough money saved, but people say that I am going to destroy my resume with a year of not working and there will be no way back to science. Despite there is no garanthee for artist job as well. That is why I am so scared. I might ask her
Thank you so much

RE: What is your day job? (question for full-time and part-time creatives)
I am a Physicist and was working in a laboratory till a few months ago. I found it impossible to work on art during those day. Since we had to always stay at work over-time. So, I quitted that job and gave myself a few months. After that I started to work as a teacher in high-school. This gave me so much more time to develope my art and start some personal projects. When my art improves to a better level, I would love to work as a full-time artist. I literally love to just draw the whole time. In my idea, full time doing art is great but it is hard to achieve to a level that it can work out. And as a side-job, the best would be something like a Graphic designer, or teaching is great. I love that I can spend time with children. Their energy gives me energy as well

RE: Difficulties of Being an Illustrator
@CosmoglotJay yes, I can also work with my laptop, but I have always been shy trying to draw in the public. I just don't feel confident about it at all. And people always get so curious when someone is drawing!
