I just tried the wonderful gouache/ink resist technique in David Hohn's class. The result is very much like a woodcut and I love how the black is so 'punchy'. It's so low-tech too - no lightbox or computer are required.
Here is my image (cleaned up a bit in PS). For Inktober I did a series of fantastical seedlings in a teacup. "Rabbit Willow" was one of them.

RE: Featured Student 2020 Review Edition
How have you improved this year thanks to SVSLearn?
SVS courses are so helpful and I have recommended them to many friends. Like Alicia, I like the fact that the lessons are always there and they get updated. The critiques in the interactive classes and the contests are great. I find that problems are often not visible to me until someone points them out. I am developing a better eye.How did SVSLearn impact the creation of this piece?
I had never tried this medium before (screenprinting ink) and I love it. The video took me step by step through the process. -
Lee's Experimenting with Ink class work
Here is my work for the 2nd and 3rd assignments for the Experimenting with Ink class. I loved this class!
Working with block printing inks is expressive like monoprinting but more forgiving - and you don't need a press.I experimented with adding colour with gouache, but in the end removed it and kept the image black and white.
The landscape was done with the water soluble ink and the balloon with the acrylic ink. I made my own stencils for the birds and windows out of a clear plastic document sleeve - cheap, easy to cut and quite thin. The pattern on the balloon came from a thin sheet of plastic with holes in it. The white lines are acrylic ink - my gel pens are beyond fixing.
I kept a tub of water and an old toothbrush on my table to quickly clean the brayers and went through lots of paper towels. -
