One of my favorite books. I’ve read it so many times! I was really excited to draw this one. It’s been on my list of portfolio pieces to do for a while now.

RE: MAY CONTEST: ISOLATION
My character's idea of isolation is pretty much how I feel about it. Give me a book and a quiet spot in the woods and I'm happy. Honestly, even being home with my husband and my three school-aged kids is not bad either. Though that's more "cooped up" than "isolated."

RE: AUGUST CONTEST: Dragonfly
I was inspired by my three boys who are in cub scouts to do this illustration. I can see this is a nonfiction nature book or magazine.

Dragonfly feedback
Hello everybody! I’ve entered a few contests but I haven’t ever asked for feedback before submitting. I would really like to know what the group thinks of my Dragonfly concept and composition. I made several very different thumbnails before deciding on the concept of a child (out of focus behind it) looking at a dragonfly. I then decided to draw my three sons in their Cub Scout uniforms (yes they really look this different in real life!). I have drawn them at a camp-out observing nature as they find this very cool looking dragonfly.
Anyway, here is my thumbnail, initial sketch, and what I have finished so far.
What do you think of the composition? What about the children being out of focus? Should they be fuzzier, in focus? Does the illustration read correctly?

RE: DECEMBER CONTEST: as she listened closely, she overheard them talking about her...
Hi. This is my first post and first entry after lurking for a while. Feeling a little nervous to share.
This actually happened to me when I was 11. My teacher was the worst but the detention monitor was really nice.

RE: Will Terry's New Book -Need some clarification!
This email is asking you to confirm your purchase and to charge for shipping. I live in the US and my shipping was about $10. They did not charge again for the book.

RE: JANUARY CONTEST: The tracks in the snow were unlike anything Will had ever seen before.
@Heather-Boyd thank you! I really wanted to try this perspective. My initial thumbnails had the POV on the ground looking up at Will with a flying alien in a spacesuit above him.. but when I got the idea for a reflection in the footprint I ditched the alien idea for an easier read. It was fun to come up with and execute this concept.

RE: Featured Student Special Edition: MerMay
Here is my entry. I wanted to play around with lighting and color and shapes. I think this royal mermaid has a carnival feel to her.

RE: Dragonfly feedback
@Valerie-Light wing detail is a must, I agree. I was more focused on angling the wings so they weren’t covering the kids’ faces than making them look cool. Thanks for the feedback!
