RE: Color Critique
Hello! Sorry, I might be missing something, but I don't see much difference between the two images, just one looks larger than the other? (so sorry if I'm wrong)
I think your color palate is very pretty! It' very soft and tranquil. One thing I remember from taking a color class from Marco Bucci is that he said that which colors you choose aren't as important as the values. So he recommended viewing the image in gray-scale and if it worked, you could try out different color schemes to aid in your storytelling (so, for example, you could try out more sunset colors, or night time colors- they will change the mood of your image). This color scheme is giving me very tranquil and peaceful vibes.
That's my two cents. Hopefully this is helpful!
Super cool! I'm not good at drawing mechs, they're super complicated. I like how you have more "exposed" areas, where you can see the inner workings, I really dig that.
One thing you could consider is... try to have more different sizes in your shape design. Right now I see a lot of small and medium shapes. I think I would be super impact-ful to have some much larger shapes in there too. That way you don't end up with bloby looking areas -where the shapes don't really read too well.
Here's Jake's robots as comparison: https://mrjakeparker.tumblr.com/post/58928118965/todays-robot
He uses small, medium, large shapes very efficiently, making his silhouettes very readable. Maybe try coalescing some of the medium shapes together into one large shape, or try experimenting with some large shapes in the shoulders or head.
I hope this is helpful ^_^;
RE: Hello from Orem, Utah. I'm new to the forum. Feedback appreciated.
OMG this is adorable! Loving it!
Anyone here at artist alley for 2020 Emerald City Comic Con?
I applied for a table at next year's ECCC, but I didn't get in. I'm hoping to find an artist who would be willing to share a table. I'd split the costs 50/50. I've never done a con as an artist before, so I'm not sure where to look for partners. If you're interested please PM me? Thanks so much!
RE: My Monster Coloring Book is Live on Amazon :-)
Congratulations! I was hoping we could take a peak at the first few pages (I think you can do that with certain books on amazon?)
RE: Hello! Do I belong here?
@Amanda-Bancroft yes! I think I understand you. This feels like a great place, but I'm concerned it's not "for me" since I'm not doing children's books. But I'm sure there are great principles here that can be applied in many art-related areas, so I'm gonna stick around and see
