Hi everyone! So this is my very first time submitting to a svs challenge. I'm pretty new and only in the past month or so started getting into children's book illustration, even signed up for a local (in person!!) workshop on children's book illustration starting in Jan so I'm excited about that. I'm still working on finding my style, I work traditionally and I love to draw in mostly pencil/ink/watercolour but I decided to bust out the acrylics on this one with a little digital fine-tuning at the end. I'm not super happy with how I couldn't get the details that I wanted with the brush.
So is my Canadianness showing?? My original idea was a girl with braids playing hockey but decided it would be more fun with friends...this is very intimidating I might add thanks for looking!

RE: Just introducing myself
@Emily-Engh Hi Emily, I'm new here and just wanted to say that I'm in a similar position as you. I'm a SAHM right now and trying to get back into the swing of things while raising my two girls...they aren't in school yet though (3 and almost 2) so I'm hoping to slowly work my way up to it when that time comes. I think it's so cool that you went to school for illustration and you're going back again! I haven't been formally trained but am starting a weekend class on children's book illustration in Jan. I'm completely switching career paths since this is not what I went to school for, but it has always been my passion. Bit nerve-wracking. Anyway, sorry for rambling!

RE: Slovember critique
@PainterDraws Oh phew I had a bit of a panic when it disconnected and I tried to tune in again and there was an option to turn off the mic haha.

Slovember critique
Hi guys, I totally missed out on the live critique! We were on the road and I couldn't tune in, tried to right at the end I think but it stopped working (I hope I didn't tune in with my mic on or something
sorry if I did I've never used the zoom app before). So I don't know who's pieces got critiqued, did anyone see mine? (Hockey kids). Is there going to be a chance to watch it later? I hope so! And congrats to the winner.
