Hi everyone,
I'm new to this group and participated in 3rd Thurs. last month for the first time. I learned so much so I went back and watched all the youtube videos of past critiques. Very helpful!
I was wondering about this month's prompt. I could have sworn it said at one time it had to be a spot, but maybe I was mistaken? Anyway, is it okay to submit a spot if it doesn't call for one? And any suggestions on this? These are layers in Photoshop from acrylic paintings. The rope is a separate layer I did with Prismacolors. So everything can still be adjusted and changed. Thank you for the feedback.

Spring Critiques
It was great taking part in the spring critique. Thank you @Will-Terry and @Lee-White. I learned so much not only from my critique, but watching everyone else's as well. I reworked this piece which is a 2-page spread for 3rd Thursday using the fortune: A new voyage will fill your life with untold memories.
I posted the before and after. Would love feedback on the direction this is taking. Thanks!!! -
RE: Mentorships and Portfolio reviews
I have ongoing weekly skype classes with EB Lewis. It has been extremely helpful. He helps me not only with my art but with the whole storytelling process. He's brutally honest which can be tough, but I've pushed myself harder knowing I have an assignment he'll be critiquing each week. Each 30 min. Skype is 25.00 (you pay 100 every 4 classes). Info. Is on "mentorship" link on his website. Started over a year ago and one of the books he's helped me with is now under contract with Holiday House

RE: Spring critiques with Lee and Will updated version
@Leontine I like this illustration, especially the expressions on the grandma and grandpa. I like the grouping on the left but it feels unbalanced to me with that space above them. Can you maybe move them up or maybe shorten the frame? I also like how you added the scarf she's knitting throughout the piece. Nicely done!

RE: How do you get out of your own way?
@lidia-ull
I absolutely love your work! When I’m stuck or especially when I’m not satisfied with my work, I listen to a book on my audible called Do The Work by Steven Pressfield. Great inspiration and helps explain the resistance you’re feeling. -

RE: August Illustration Contest: Worst Fear
@lee-white I was trying to upload my image but it says I don't have privileges or something like that. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thank you!

Writing Picture Book Class
With a project that has come up and work keeping me busier than ever, I don't think I'm going to have the time to devote to the Ann Whitford Paul Writing Picture Book that I thought. If anyone wants to purchase it from me, let me know. Thanks!

RE: Some of my recent watercolor illustrations
@Dan-Tavis These are so cute. Especially love all the little details in the second one. The rabbits in the backpack are hilarious.
