Thanks everyone who responded....I sent them the link to Will Terry's Podcast to get the 100+ things for themselves (that was a great suggestion!)

RE: Short Question about Paper- Traditional
Seriously, I hear you!
How I handle it....is that I recycle as much as possible. Please believe me, I have a ton of art "wanna-a-be" art leftovers....Do I feel guilty? OH YES! So, I put my "learners" to good use and use the backs (if it turns out good and I want to sell it, I frame it and seal it)....the rest, I put in the recycle, if its not usable. and in truth, I am almost to the point of wanting to plant a tree to make up for my waste while learning. -
RE: Slowvember is over!
Just wanted to personally "thank you" for Slowvember! It REALLY worked for me....I actually have a plan outlined and a number of thumbnails started and then the value and color study....and best of all, I am working on my finishing 2 of my portfolio pieces (of which I am proud of!) Using your method with the six steps of making art has made all the difference and I cant thank you enough!

KIDLIT 411 Banner Contest
I would like to participate in the KidLit411 Banner Contest that they do every year, but I cannot seem to find how to go about entering, rules, etc. I see that some of the Forum members have done this in the past year...could you please help me and let me know how you entered. Thank you so much.

RE: This is a really hard challenge!
Sometimes in frustration, the BEST ideas come out...please don't give up! Take a little "breakie-break" from it and you will come back to it with a fresh perspective...

SCBWI Conference (Octoberfest) this Saturday
Anyone from SVS going to the SCBWI Conference this Saturday, Oct 19th in San Ramon? Want to meet up and share a table, sketches and stories...let me know. I will be there with a sign that has a SVS rabbit logo on it...that way we can find each other.

Adobe Fresco or ProCreate?
Would like feedback of the pros and cons of both from people who use them...I am about to get the newest iPad and would like to know which one to use with it. I like the idea of the Fresco being able to watercolor but the price of the ProCreate is very attractive compared to Adobe's monthly fee.
Also, a question: Can you print text in either one? (Like for a children's book)
Thanks bunches,
(I love this group!)

RE: kid lit nanowrimo discussion and support
@Braden-Hallett
Hi, fellow artist, illustrators, writers...
My family and i were smack dab in the middle of the Califironia Kincade Fire(s) and we are still cleaning up after the evacuations...we are lucky because we still have our home (and our town was saved by the firefighters.) I signed up for this group before the fire storms hit and now I am unable to participate because my time is spent cleaning up ash/debri....I just wanted you know that I think this group was a great idea and if you ever do it again, please count me in. Best of luck to all of you.....and "Make good art!" Rebecca Arent-Draper

SCBWI Oregon Conference 2020
Anyone going to the SCBWI Oregon Conference 2020 on May 16th and 17th? Would you like to meet with me and compare notes on the sessions? Its always fun to meet up with fellow illustrators.
PS: I was one of the lucky ones to get a place in displaying my portfolio there (of which I'm in a panic because, right now, its all in pieces with taking out old stuff and putting in new) Thx, Rebecca Arent-Draper -

You do amazing beautiful artwork!
(This is the only advice I can offer and I hope it helps)
