Thank you very much @chrisaakins , I appreciate your thoughts on this piece. One of the reasons I avoided digital until about a year ago now was because all I saw was so obviously digital, that there was literally no appeal in it for me. I love the look of traditional media, and trying to enjoy the benefits of digital while retaining a traditional look has been one of my main goals/struggles. All in all, my approach to working has been one of simplicity or a traditional mind set. There are a lot of cool tricks that can be used for digital, but for me, I have to limit those features. When I deviate from that I run into issues like you mentioned with the original border being too clean - (fake). I may come back to this later to add the secondary character to break the border, but for now it needs to breathe.

The first design looks great to me too. In case it's of any assistance to you, I thought I'd mention that when I first saw the little mouse (on a small screen), I thought the inner ear was the eye, the tip of that ear the nose, and the shoulder blade and elbow the ears... but then there were additional features (the real face) that my mind was confused by for a few seconds until I zoomed in and realized the correct orientation of the little fellow's head. Since these will be printed small, I thought I'd share my experience for what it's worth. Thank you for sharing these choices and your decision making process with us.

@nyrryl-cadiz said in Very first digital art, critiques/comments welcome: @adrian-k This is your first work? This is unbelievable! Very amazing! My first work was nothing better than garbage (hehe) keep up the good work. Though I hate loosing detail (that’s where I usually lose my self) here’s the revision pulling the fox back into the shadows more.
