Superstition WIP
-
I'm calling on all to vote on which option/idea I should go with. I have two that I really like but my gut has been wrong since the inception of 3rd Thursdays LMAO. So this month I am going to take the advice of our fearless leaders and work more with my follow SVSers advice. With that please let me know which option I should move forward with. Thanks...
Devil coming out of mirror and grabbing kid.
Person under tree getting shit on while a bank robber runs away from the bank and money is raining all over.
A bunch of people crossing a city street while lighting hits the only one in red.
Little red riding hood on her way to grandma's house when she is hit by lighting.
Girl at table growing a facial hair.

A little more description below each image. Looking at D some more, i would need to add the wolf and some trees. That idea popped in my head when I was looking at this idea some more.
-
All fun ideas! A could be really creepy/scary and a fun image to do, but I think C shows the superstition really well.
-
Not sure which to choose, but I always go towards the one that makes me smile. In this case the bird...
-
I'd pick C, because you get an opportunity to play with the variety of textures in the wet rain and the umbrellas, and a chance to explore color contrasts between "red" and everything else. I think it has a lot of inherent comedy, too, depending on how you want to play that up.
-
I personally love the idea of D with the wolf and her in the woods. It's a fun/funny spin on a classic, maybe even have the wolf surprised at what's happening who's hiding between a tree of something.
All of them are great ideas though, excited to see what you end up with!

Hi, Chip! I’m from the Philippines and I’ve never heard that superstition. Lol must be a niche thing
-
I like A, if you do the infinity thing.
-
A seems like a cool idea, but might also present a complicated drawing challenge...depending on how deep into the reflections you go. Of course, just having the devil pooping out and limiting the scene to that interaction would be fun. Unless you’re that kid...

I am going with the lighting that strikes someone in red, and the person is red is little red riding hood. Here are a few roughs I did. I like the first one but since she is facing the camera does it make sense that the cabin is behind her? Wouldn't see be going toward it? I could flip her around and not show the face but the skeleton structure like in old time cartoons when they get electrocuted. I also like the simplicity of second one and then third one would be the moment before she gets it. So she would look happy not knowing what is about to happen. Thoughts?
-
I am going with a combo of all three. I like the layout of the third one, like she is on her way to grandmas, I like the wolf hiding in the first one and I like the idea of no cabin in view. I think I might add a sign that points to grandmas house somewhere.
Last rough before I start to clean it up.
-
@Chip-Valecek Seems like a solid concept. Should be fun to work in the "old time cartoon" style on her too!
-
@Chip-Valecek Hi, just curious. Where did you get this superstition again?
-
-
@Chip-Valecek Nice! i think that'll read pretty nicely
-
@Chip-Valecek This latest one is looking solid. I like the addition of her skeleton a lot.
-
Love it!
Does Mr. Wolf like his food well done? -
Ha! Maybe the wolf is wearing a bib and holding a knife and fork!
-
Last rough before I clean up the lines. Anything popping out that needs fixing?
I also slapped some color options together. I am leaning more towards the blue tint with only red riding hood in color. But I also sorta like the full color version. Not sold on the green tint. Thoughts?
-
I personally like the blue tint best but the full color is good, too. Maybe full color but kind of tinted towards blue? Not sure how or if that would work.
