SVS does Inktober 2018

  • Oh man oh man oh man! Inktober is almost here and I'm not ready!!!
Could I maybe get some character design critique?0_1538362486350_Lucina Character Sheet.png
She's Lucina or Luz, I'm not sure yet. She'll be the heroine of my inktober project. She'll need to navigate a dreamscape after being poisoned in her sleep. She's supposed to be 7 or 8 yrs old. (This is digital but most of my inktober will be traditional)

Also I learned I can't draw toes XD

Hope everyone else's preparations are going well! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • Inktober has hit in Australia. Here is my first one. "Poisoned"

This is my first ever ink drawing for Inktober. It was definitely a challenge, but I really enjoyed exploring what I can do in a limited timeframe and with little to no experience using ink.

Like Jake says "better finished than perfect". While I can see there is definitely room for improvement, I am happy to have finished it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • @concept oh awesome! Just wondering how long did it take? I'm hoping to limit myself to 2 hrs a day because I'm slow

  • Hmm. I did some preliminary sketches a couple of weeks ago to figure out what I wanted to do. But this piece took about 2-3 hours, mainly because I had to wait for the ink to dry.

I don't think I could sustain that amount of time each day. I'm tweaking some of my other ideas for future days so I can get them completed quicker.

Iโ€™m NOT planning to do the whole inktober, but Iโ€™m in Sardegna at the moment, and in one of those rare time-bubbles where I can do outdoor sketching. And since my favorite sketching media (especially for nature) is ballpoint and marker, I thought Iโ€™ll post along with the serious inktober folks for as long as it lasts ๐Ÿ™‚

Cork trees around Tempio Pausania. They hug the stones with their roots and are stripped of cork at this time of year, which makes them look very peculiar and eerie...

So awesome and so excited to be taking part in my 3rd inktober and looking forward to seeing everyones art. This year I'm drawing with a 0.1 staedtler Marsmatic fineliner. What am I drawing? Illustrations from a story I have written called 'If I were King King'.

  • Inktober 2018 Day 1 Poisonous Animals

Thanks guys, so excited to continue. Small and steady. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hereโ€™s Day 1 - imagined poison apples being delivered to evil witches across the land. Screwed up a bit but hopefully my technique will improve as the month progresses! 0_1538408699214_3A0C26C1-8FFF-4F4F-A13C-50902AD4F9E3.jpeg

  • Excited to be doing inktober for the first time!

I was going to try doing comics of my Kinโ€ขder People this year, but I changed my mind this weekend. I had to put my dog to sleep. I am heartbroken. He was the best dog I ever had and I want to dedicate every day of this inktober to him.

  • @burvantill I'm so sorry for your loss! ๐Ÿ˜ข That's a beautiful portrait. โ™ฅ

  • @burvantill I am so sorry. We lost our dog this month, too. I look forward to seeing your work.

  • Here is my day 1. I am not sure will do it for a whole month though :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

@lenwen I love this so much!

  • @judy-elizabeth-wilson thank you Judy! :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:

  • Here's my day 1: Poisonous. This is my first Inktober, and so far I'm loving it!

  • I'm not very inky - but I have to admit I had so much fun doing this. It worked up fairly quickly and I really need to find some time this week to do more. I used inktense for the washes and some detail, plus an ink marker. I just had to throw a little bit of colour in there too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love what everyone has created so far and am looking forward to a month of inky creations from you all.

  • Day 2: Tranquil

I originally struggled with this drawing. I didn't want to do a typical 'tranquil' landscape of mountains and water, or someone meditating which (according to Google image search) everyone relates to tranquility.

For me, tranquility is finding peace and enjoying the little things. I wanted to capture that in this artwork. It was a lot of fun.
