Marooned 3rd Thurs

I haven't participated in a couple months, but here is the submission I'm going with. I am purposefully keeping it minimalistic and simple to exaggerate the concept of a space island. I feel like there are some tweaks I could make, for instance, I'm not sold on the backgournd, so if you have suggestions I'm all ears.
-
Love the character, maybe add earth in the background small and some shooting stars?
-
@Naters-Calderone I think it's a great character and I like the line work. I agree that you need another point of interest. I think as suggested a planet in the background would work giving you nice triangle composition.
-
HAAAAAAA! Love it. I agree. Very faint planet in background and done.
-
this is hilarious
-
Great concept, very clever!
-
I love the concept. Nice expressions.
-
Great concept! i think if you add a bit of a gradient over the stars and make them not so white it would work
-
Really awesome! I laughed so much at this, his expression says it all!
-
@Naters-Calderone
This is great work! Made me laugh
Would you consider making the life ring device red and white instead of orange and white - currently it looks like it could already be a part of Willie's gear due to it being the same colour. Also I would suggest adding some sort of scale reference - his displacement is not quite grasped with the current background as it is just open space, possibly add a planet in the distance?
-
Good advice, here are a couple variants.
or
Any advice?
-
@Naters-Calderone I like the second one. I don't know why, but it seems more believable to me. Makes me giggle every time hehe
-
The second option is the way to go.
-
I second the second!
-
I think I would like something between the two. smaller but still with the astronaut overlapping it in front.
-
Hahaha. the only critique for the piece was to remove the planet...
-
@Naters-Calderone I still like the idea of having the planet in there. I might have just had it crisp and not blurry. But still that is my opinion.
-
@Chip-Valecek yeah i think that would have been better too
-
@Naters-Calderone Yeah, that made me laugh! I thought it turned out great
