Amazing!! Congratulations Charlie. Can't wait to see what you work on in the future.
Thanks so much everyone!! We had a 5k getaway weekend and just got back!
I truly appreciate all the kind words and support. Sharing my work here is always so helpful and following other people''s work too. So many people to learn from and so much to improve upon.
Whenever I get stuck with something I love that I can re-watch SVS videos and usually find a way to tackle it. It is especially helpful on the days when I feel like I'll never draw anything worth showing ever again. This community has be wonderful and so very beneficial to me.
I look forward to continuing to watch it grow as it continues to help me grow as an illustrator and visual storyteller.
@Sarah-LuAnn I queried her by email after having interest in my work from a few publishers.
One other agent who I didn't go with actually got in touch with me through LinkedIn. So you never know where people might find your work.
Andrea Brown Literary Agency has always been my top pick but I never had the courage to go for it. I wanted to find someone who was really excited about my work and could help me navigate the publishing world. I researched all the agents there and felt Kathleen might like my style.
I'm still floored and excited and nervous but ready to dig in.

Oh how wonderful! Congrats! You have to be walking on cloud 9 right now and it is very well deserved. Thank you for sharing this with us. Gives me a bit more of a pep this morning.

@Charlie-Eve-Ryan Congratulations!!!! That is a great agency I've heard, how exciting! Are they representing you for a specific book you pitched?
@natiwata Thank you! I'm thrilled and floored because you are right, ABLA is a great agency for kidlit and picture books so I am so grateful for the opportunity. They have a good reputation.
I sent Kathleen my portfolio and heard back within two days. We chatted for a while on the phone and she read a few of my stories too and offered to rep both my illustration work and my writing.
I had interest from multiple agencies so it was a crazy week, I was shocked by the response. I think it helped that I already had interest in my work coming in from a few publishers.
I am really happy with how things ended up.
She seemed really excited about what she saw and we clicked well and had similar goals for my career.
Now for the hard part... making a book and putting it out on submission and waiting and hoping!
Congratulations! I love that little princess drawing too
@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen Thanks so much!
Btw @natiwata if you haven't put together a children's book portfolio yet, you really should. Your work is fantastic!! I love your characters and style!!
Congratulations! Love your work!
@cherylpilgrim That's very kind, thanks so much Cheryl!!
