Advice on setting up my illustration portfolio site name
-
I need advice on setting up my illustration portfolio site. Most illustrators use their names in their website addresses. However, I have a common name and currently use 'nekohues.com' for my art business shop. I can't afford a new domain right now. Would it be professional to put my portfolio in my brand name, like nekohues.com/work or /portfolio? Or can I use the basic domain provided by the website host, like nekohuesart.wix.com? Any suggestions on a name would also be greatly appreciated

@nohdee I think nekohues.com/work looks more professional out of the 2. But neither would make an art director opt against hiring you just because of that

@NessIllustration hey! thanks for the response. I just don't want to appear sus & also be easy to remember & found

Keep it simple.
Is Nekohues a pen name/brand?
Is that the name that will go on your book cover?

@AnthonyWheeler Yes, that is my brand name. It goes on the products I sell. I'm unsure if I should keep my work portfolio on my shop site.

If you plan on using 'nekohues' on your book covers, then it makes sense to stick with your current website and just add a /work or /portfolio section. But if youβre planning to use your actual name for your publishing work, then a separate portfolio website might be better in the long run. Like Ness mentioned though, the domain name shouldn't be a dealbreaker- what really matters is your portfolio!

@Yogita-Chawdhary, yes, I like to be nekohues. My site is mainly for shop, and it's in a different style than the work I do for portfolio. So i dont want to overwhelm people by looking at my work TvT ..
