Creative Composition! Completed Worksheets + Final Assignment WIP
-
I've been working on the creative composition class as part of this curriculum.
So far this course has been really useful. I've learned a ton about composition and Im happy this class was my introduction to it!
Here's a link to an imgur album with my complete worksheets.
I think I got a good understanding on most of the concepts I was taught. And here's my final assignment as it is so far...
I feel like so far my progress on the final assignment is pretty good from the sketch stage but now that I have to add detail I feel its a lot more difficult and burning me out. Definitely made some mistakes by merging too many layers and I feel almost like I should give up on this attempt and re-do it.Thoughts? Advice? Should I just move on?

I think it is a very good try and there is no shame to give up on it and start something new. It’s part of the learning process. We try things and throw them
But if you find the energy to continue working on it. I would say, try to answer the questions: what is the main subject/character of the artwork? What is the narrative? Is the composition making it clear?
In terms of adding details, my advice is to try to keep things simple (not too many elements), and then collect references for each element so that you can use these references as inspiration/model when drawing the details. Finally, I would advice not to detail all the elements of the drawing, but only the ones that you want the viewer to look at.
An illustration as big as this one is a big endeavour, with many steps and levels. So don’t worry if you don’t get to the end or if you are not happy with the result. What’s important is what you’ve learn on the way
