Sale on Affinity 2: 40% OFF (for all apps on all platforms)
-
I just thought I'd let everyone know, since I really enjoy using the Affinity programs.
In case you haven't heard of them, Serif's Affinity programs are digital illustration software similar to Adobe. They're affordable, one time purchase, high quality imaging software.
Affinity Version 2 just launched this month, & they are offering their whole suite for 40% off (for a "limited time", of course).
Sale Price: $99.99
(ONE-OFF Pmt. | incl. VAT) for:
Affinity Photo (comparable to Adobe Photoshop),
Affinity Designer (similar to Adobe Illustrator), &
Affinity Publisher (like Adobe InDesign).
The Affinity V2 Universal License is a package deal for all 3 programs, which can be used on all platforms (macOS, Windows & iPadOS).
(You can also buy the programs separately. 40% Platform specific desktop programs, or 50% off iPad versions.)They have a 30-day free trial (without taking your pmt. info!) so you can give it a try & compare for yourself.

It's been a very long time since I used Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign in school, so I'm not up to date on the latest versions (or even any recent versions). I loved all of them, but I don't like that you can't buy the program outright. I know Adobe is amazing & the industry standard. But I've been happy using Affinity, and wanted to share in case it's beneficial to anyone else!

@Miriam Awesome, thanks for sharing! I'm curious if you think there is enough improvement over version 1 to warrant the $100 upgrade if you already have version 1? I have version 1 of the suite and enjoy it (although I generally use Clip Studio Paint for illustrating) and when looking at version 2 I don't see too many new features that are geared toward artists. Reviews seem to be slow to come by too. It sounds like you're pretty knowledgable about Affinity's products and your artwork is fantastic so I figured I'd ask. Thanks again!

@Jeremiahbrown Wow, thanks for the compliment!
Yeah, it's a great deal if you don't have any imaging programs like this, but you're right that it's a lot of money to upgrade if you already have the Affinity programs. So it might not be worth it to upgrade depending on whether you use more than one of the programs & what tools you use in them, your budget for art tools, etc.
I posted right after I found out about the upgrade & sale, so I haven't tried Affinity 2 yet.
I know I'd use several of the new features from looking at the What's New page, so I'm seriously considering getting the upgrade. (I also got my Affinity V1 suite during their Covid sale & saved a lot on the programs I have. So that could be influencing my decision. Plus, I use both Photo & Designer for drawing & graphic design.)

These tools would be very useful for me:
- improved vector tools!
(better shape builder, knife tool, & joining) - view brushes used on each layer!
(I'm wondering if this remembers the size of the brush or any other changes on the brush settings, or just the brush at its normal settings or last used settings. Although, I recently learned how to create your own brush category, & duplicate brushes so I can save them with various settings.) - style picker tool
(copy & paste styles to other text / objects) - the new interface & new layers panel features
I would also use these:
- measuring tool
(I'm hoping this is in Photo as well, but it might just be in Designer. I've been using the Rectangle tool & the Transform panel to measure things.) - box color picker
- linked content
(new brushes, swatches, etc. automatically available in the other Affinity apps.)
These sound cool, but I'm not sure how much I'd use them:
- vector warp / live mesh warp
(but I have wanted something like this before) - measuring tool can also find the area of an object
- more masking options
- "Smart Layer States" looks useful, but it's only in Photo 2 Desktop. I wish it was in Designer & for the iPad as well. Although, you can create a new layer from the visible layers in Photo already, but this tool is prob. easier & more efficient.
iPad:
- the Quick Menu looks very useful
(But I'm not sure if my fingers can use it, since I have joint problems & "gestures" are hard for me. I need to look at modifying them on my iPad.) - "Command Controller"!
(gives quick access to common modifiers in all tools - like pressing the Control key, etc. on a computer)
- improved vector tools!

@Miriam Thanks for the info!

If you have Version 1 will it be updated to 2?
-
@AngelinaKizz No, they won't have any further updates for Affinity version 1.
You have to buy Version 2 for any updates from now on. That's (at least partly) why they are having the Introductory sale. It's like a discounted price for the upgrade, except the deal is also available to new customers as well.
-
@Miriam well dang. Ok I guess I gotta buy the suit...
-
@AngelinaKizz Well, Version 1 will still work, but yeah.
