Hello!

Hello everyone, just realized I have not made an introduction post!
My name is Mike, I'm a month or so into SVS and have been listening to the 3pp podcast for a year or so now. I've been doodling and sketching on and off all my life as a hobby but never have been formally trained or anything. The SVS courses have already taught me so much in a short time. As you can tell from my images below, I'm clueless and terrified of coloring/rendering and have always kept things sketchy or ink. With the help of SVS, I hope to one day conquer my fear of finishing pieces hah..
I went to school for engineering and have spent my professional life in that industry, but I'm now fortunate enough to be a stay at home dad for our daughter and 3 dogs! With this life change, I figured now is the time to work on my life long hobby and maybe turn it into something productive down the road! I've always seemed to gravitate more towards cartoon/comics but am also very interested in learning more about pursuing illustrating children's books.
I look forward to being part of this community!

@mm_illu welcome mike!
If you’re wanting to try color, I suggest uploading your drawing into something like sketchbook pro or procreate and colouring it digitally. It takes the pressure away from “ruining” a piece. If you don’t like how it turns out, you still have the original.

@angelinakizz very true, I just started getting into digital and the undo button definitely feels like a super power!

@mm_illu Welcome! I really like your style, and shape language. Cool stuff! When I was first picking up digital painting, Will Terry's 10 Step Digital Painting class really helped demystify the process of adding color to my b&w images. Also Yas Imamura's class on choosing palettes for digital painting is a quickie, but I got a lot out of it!
