Hello//Intro

Hi everyone,
I thought I would write a little intro since I'm a few weeks new here.

I am a freelance writer, but I spend most of my day homeschooling my herd of children. I spend an enormous amount of time with dozens of picture books, either researching for my own writing projects, or using them for my kids' homeschool curriculum and reading them to my littles.

I have been drawing for years, but only in the last few years I seriously began to consider illustrating, not only for children's books, but maybe editorial and storyboarding (I love film). I found SVS podcast via Spotify, and realized after those couple of years searching on youtube for things to learn that I needed a learning path that I could make sure I was where I knew where I was headed, so I joined up.

I have been slowly chewing my way through the courses and incorporating them into my daily figure drawings and scenes from picture books I'd like to write.

@kim-rosenlof Hi Kim As far as published work, I write articles for magazines. But I have fiction stories in the picture book, novel, and even short film arena that I am chiseling away at, but aren't near ready to send off...it's a work in progress ;).

@cayleen Hey Cayleen, it is so good to hear there are other moms here, and moreso ones that homeschool! Sometimes I find myself wondering, "will this (illustration) ever happen? How am I ever going to get there?" One day at a time!

@katt Exactly! It all adds up! Do you have a writing/critique group? I've got a wonderful one in my town, but I'm always happy to find more people to bounce ideas and writing drafts around with.

@cayleen I'm not currently part of a critique group- but I'm open to looking at drafts, I actually pursued substantiative editing for a while and took classes/certs because I love stories so much, but ended up decided not to do it.
