Love for 3rd Thursdays

Working through some ideas I had with the first round of thumbnails. Ideas were gorilla sees bananas and is in love, monkeys in trees in love, penguin family in love, someone in love with coffee but then the snake idea hit me and i loved it. "Morrisss the Snake is so in LOVE with Jenny the Mouse he just wants to eat her up." I am leaning toward option A where the other mice are trying to save her. Thoughts?
-
Hehe, awesome! Is Jenny going to be in love with Morrisssss too? I like A better, much more dynamic
-
@Lynn-Larson I think Jenny will be flirting with him, such a tease that mouse is lol
-
lol, i think that will work
you could have his tail wrapping around one of the other mice, a snake has to eat after all hehehe
-
Going with thumbnail A I took it to a rough sketch. Any crits on composition before I move to cleaning up my sketch? No values here, just wanted to get an idea of the background, not sure if i will do trees in back or not.
-
I definitely think you should do the background trees! Nice composition Chip!
-
I do think you should do the background tree, however I think you should vary the spacing between them and there size (to make them more organic)
I really like where this is going!
-
I love the concept and it's different! Couple things that bother me are some tangents in the drawing; I would extend them so they don't touch each other or leave a tiny gap. I also think if you make your trees a bit curvy like the snake it will help improve the drama in this piece. I drew over a bit I hope you don't mind. Can't wait for the color!

Just sent in my final piece for tonight...

@Chip-Valecek - That helmet on the one mouse is so clever and really makes me smile - its really fun! I also like the hearts worked into the pattern of the snake too! And perhaps often overlooked but oh so challenging is how nicely you did those tree branches/leaves in the background as well as the overall foliage and grass etc. Those details are always so much more difficult than meets the eye and I think you really did a great job with them on this piece!

@Rich-Green Thanks for all the kind words!

Awesome! I really like it!! I agree with Rich, the mouse with the helmet made me laugh! Good luck!
