I decided to go with D, and I just launched into it. I'm hoping folks can tell me if things are pulling focus and interest. I"m worried there's too much texture in the tree, perhaps, and I need to do something a bit more substantial to the path he's standing on...
@aprilshin I decided to change the boy's facial expression a bit, and have him looking upward with a "sorta" grin... I think that was stronger than the "I'm lonely" vibe I think I was going for... Does that make things a bit clearer? Or at least less complicated?
So this is my very first post on here, but my least favorite one ironically . If you have read the February Contest prompt , then you will understand. It's an honest mistake but unacceptable regardless. However, I should not post to complain about my failure but rather learn what could be done better. So please by all mean people....critic away....
Love it! They definitely have a traditional feel. I agree though that they could use the odd smudge here and there to really up the confusion to digital or traditional. Fabulous work!
Thanks @phoenix-yip. Yes, I see what you mean. I was wondering about putting the words in there. I'll play around with it a bit more and see if I can make it a bit more balanced.
Thank you for your kind words @catherine! I mix traditional pencil and ink with digital to attempt a traditional “feel”, and traditional watercolor paper washes for backgrounds and overlays.
i
like it. Take it to the max and see what a liquid cat can do. Makes me think of the Grinch as he slithers around the Whos' houses in the animated version.
