@withlinesofink Hi thanks for the draw over. It does look cool with that lighting. I purposely chose to not have it in sunset colours as wanted it to be early evening and was not sure it fitted with what I wanted the piece to convey. I definitely like the rim lighting though.
Going to call it a day on this piece. I am not totally happy with the final image but I really challenged myself with perspective and drawing things I don't usually draw like trees and kids.
As always SVS is great at helping out and I will take all your feedback into my next pieces. Getting the lighting right is my next challenge!
'Snorkeling Seagull' finished on the ipad Pro with Procreate. I drew this on the beach in Mexico while on vacation with my wife in my sketchbook in pencil and then inked it. When we got home, I imported it into my ipad to paint it.
@TessW This is awesome, I'm likely going to save these images with a small writeup of what you mentioned when I get home to help remember in the future. Thank you for the time you spent writing this up!
@JeaneBean Thank you for the suggestions! Linework is something I am still working on getting better at, my basic knowledge is just make the big things outlined thick, and details small, so knowing the background could possibly eliminate lines all together helps. Along with what @rcartwright suggests about changing line color! I have only started to do something like that in a couple pictures but I will keep this in mind too!
@NizhoniWolf Ok, thanks! I will fiddle around with it a bit, I have only just recently started messing around with the levels and what they do. There is a lot you can do with digital; it's a bit overwhelming at times.

I feel quiet lonely there. Some time to lonely for my sensitive soul... thinking about suicide... Just kidding! Seppuku! Of course I mean seppuku!
@Christine-Garner Thanks Christine I really prefer doing traditional work myself, but when I scan a piece it looks very messy almost as if it is to close up and muddy looking, thanks for the tips I am still experimenting.Your work is wonderful!
@Calvin-Tony-Shrumpish I think thewe are really good. Depending on what your aim is with your art would change what my opinion would be on what to add or subtract. My only real suggestion is to add more textures, or experiment with different ways of rendering, and maybe add a bit more overlapping in your scenes.
Take my advice as coming from somebody who is learning, so there are better people around here to give you advice. Hope that helps.
thank you for your feed back :)
